Hello everybody Well, I am back at the chameleons lodge. Leaving Harnas was so sad and everybody was crying I have memories and friends that I think will last a lifetime. So... I am trying to attach some pictures to this email via my lovely wolverine that is working wonderfully thank you mat! I don't even know how to explain everything that I experienced at Harnas Luckily I kept a journal the whole time so maybe when I get home and am not paying for internet I can put some more detailed experiences down. But, just to be brief today... It is SO hands on there. I touched EVERYTHING! And it was so amazing to bond with the animals. I had three favorite "enclosures" Cleo and Pride were two cheetahs that I absolutely loved and slept ... read more

I'm afraid that this isn't really one of my usual entries, but just a real quick update about where I am and what I'm up to. First off an apology; the email address I had set up with travelblog has been having problems for the last few months so I haven't got any recent messages. I've set up a new one now, so future communications should get through. I've just had a short holiday (18 days) in the UK. It used to be that the leaving the UK meant going on holiday for me, but these days it's the other way around. I'm working in Namibia now, and having an amazing time in the process. I expect to make it back to the UK every 3-4 months, but time will tell if I can continue to ... read more

Hey so I can't find my cords right now to hook my camera up to the computer, everything is sprawled out across my room due to the laundry soap leakage. I will have to organize this tonight! No, the baboons I saw did not have the red butts... at least as far as I could see. So anyways. I haven't been up to much today. I ordered an omelette for breakfast, because they smelled so good, but now I have a bit of a stomach ache. Probabley just because I have only had left over pizza and bread lately LOL. ... read more

Hello everybody! Well, the tour to Katatura went today at 3:00pm it was sooooo much fun. Henny(i think that is how it is spelled) and victory (two people that are staff at the chameleons) took us out. There were 6 of us... all of us are going to harnas tomorrow. It was fun getting to know everybody even before we left. There are three girls who all came together from Dublin Ireland and then there is two (guy and girl) who came from London. WE had a blast on the tour it was way more than we expected it to be. First they drove us out through the shanty town and then we stopped at the local market. I ate a dried worm/slug thing! Then we also tried other stuff like the awesome bread that they ... read more

Hello again. Well today was nice... just chilled by the pool and watched heartbreak kid and Good luck Chuck in what I think is French, but who knows. There are tons of people here now, I think that a tour just got over or something and they are all staying the night before they head out. The girl at reception told me that there is another girl who is being picked up for Harnas friday that got here today, but all I know is that her name is Jennifer... but I might meet her tomorrow or maybe just friday morning as we are waiting LOL! I think I might be able to put pictures on with the computer here as it is an actual desk top... I am going to take some pictures tomorrow and try ... read more

hello again! My pizza was delicious! Hawaiian style (thank you mat). I went to bed super early yesterday because I was tired... also because the electricity went out and they didn't get it back on for like 3 hours (by then i was sleeping). I knew it would be cold but it is like really cold at night! I slept with two comforters and sweat pants. This morning, was also cold when i left but I just got back and now it is hot. So... I got up this morning determined to exchange some money because I had like none left. So I ask the counter where to exchange money, they said there is a bank in the mall so I got directions and walked to the mall. (Kind of freaky because I was scared of ... read more

We travelled the 707 km between Kang and Arebbusch Lodge in Windhoek. Formalities at the border went smoothly. On entering Namibia a road tax has to be paid for every vehicle. The are no toll roads in Namibia and most roads, even gravel road are in good condition. The exception are the roads in Etosha Park and the Namib Naukluft Park. Arebbush Travel Lodge (+264 61 252255) (S22 36.677 E17 05.158) offers chalets and camping sites. The ablution facilities at the camp were in excellent condition and very clean. The evening we decided to go to Joe’s Beergarden, a steakhouse with an African theme. The meals were great and the portions massive. Value for money.... read more

Just a quick one today - the internet is a little slow and I'm running out of time. Things have relaxed a little bit after the intense day of skydiving/sandboarding/general mayhem. Since then we've driven through an area called Damaraland, where we saw some ancient rock drawings and our first elephants! Last night and the night before that we were camping in Etosha National Park. Our campsite was right near the watering hole so we were about a five minute walk from some amazing animals. Between the watering hole and some game drives we saw: elephants, zebras, giraffes, black rhinos, springbok, lions (!!), wildebeests, ostrich, hyenas, oryx, warthogs, and plenty of jackals. The camping was an interesting experience...mostly in that it was absolutely FREEZING at night. As a Canadian, I am ashamed to say that even ... read more
