I hate computers!!!!!!!!! After a frustrating hour of trying to get these photos up, Tracy saved the day while I was chatting on the phone...thanks, Tracy! Take a look, we could not have had more fun if we tried. Caroline even got to do archery which she just tried for the first time in PE and is very good at it. Tracy and I both had massages (Thai lady #1) at the spa, doing shiftwork with the kids. After much persuasion, we even did water aerobics where we got into trouble for too much giggling! We thought we were being so creative to sit on chairs in the water...I think Caroline knew that wave was coming when she got out the camera! The little kids were absolute angels, never complaining or asking for anything. Soup and ... read more

We left Cairo at 11am with 2 cars, 2 drivers, 2 shopped out mammas, 1 grumpy teenage girl, 2 naughty little girls, and Trevor. After a nostalgic teary drive through the desert we arrived in El Ain Sukhna on the Red Sea. After the usual confusion at the Stella di Mare check-in, we got a free upgrade thanks to Tracy. The pool and beach were fabulous as usual and we even got "lau sammat" (waiter) to deliver "asir limon" (lemon juice) to our lounge chairs on the beach. Sand castles and strolls...then a shower and off to the mega dinner buffet. The lentil soup was divine as well as the salads...should have stopped there. Just take a look at the dessert table! Too many Egyptian sweets, dripping with syrup. I ATE TOO MUCH!... read more

So we left Luxor at about 5pm and drove five and a half hours to Hurghada. This is where the group split. Some people finished after a week and so stayed on the bus which was heading for Cairo, 10 of us got off for our week on the coast. Into our rooms for 11pm and out on the town to the Hard Rock Cafe for free drinks! And what a sight it was, it was just full of Egyptian men and western women...and a small toddler to add to it just walking around loud thumping music, people smoking and drunkards. A nice introduction to the resort town of Hurghada! The following day I relaxed on the beach for a few hours, surrounded by russians (yes I had to be quick to spot them) and for ... read more

Egipt or Egypt as the English people call it. One of the countries that witnessed too much progress recently. They started investing lots of places to become touristic and destinations for more tourism for this very old country. What gave Egipt this fame as historic and touristic place is not only one thing but many aspects. Egipt's locations,The Nile River,History and other reasons but i think the location is one of the most important ones.Being in between these two manifesting seas; The Red and The Mediterranean gave Egipt such a wonderful taste that could attract any tourist in any place of the world. When i went to the Red sea and Hurghada,i never imagined i would see this kind of beauty here. The Red sea is awesome handsome as a place to relax and swim in ... read more

Hi there. We were in Hurghada in Egypt during one week in February 2009. We stayed in the "Grand resort Hotel" from Red See Hotels. One of the most beautiful hotels we've ever stayed. Astonishing landscapes, pools, lagoons... restaurants, good food, nice people! But forget the beach lol! Just enjoyed the hotel, didn't do much else except a little bit shopping. It was a very nice and calm week! Cheers!... read more

Watch out for those beer goggles…..and the resulting hangover!! After our afternoon lunch in Luxor we immediately made our way back to the campsite in readiness for our 2pm convoy to Hurghada, where we would be spending the next two nights. What can one say about the town of Hughada? Nothing in fact! It is what I would call the Costa del Sol of Egypt, filled with tourist resorts & tacky souvenir shops that cater for the much maligned European package traveler and reveal nothing about the true Egypt. In truth the only thing this town has going for it is the red sea coast & climate, but in comparison to the reefs of Dahab & its laid back quietness - this town does not even rate. My advice to anyone thinking of it as ... read more

06-10-08 We were picked up at 7am for 9am transfer by boat to Sharm El Sheikh, when on arrival at the boat harbour we discovered that the ferry had left at 4am, as our guide had not confirmed our departure time we missed the boat. No other boats were going today, so an alternative had to be found. If we couldn't get to Sham today, we would miss climbing Mt. Sinai to watch the sun rise, and miss visiting the Monastery of St. Catherine. Climbing Mt. Sinai was one of the highlights we really wanted to do. We also had to catch the ferry to take us to Jordan. A 14 hour car trip with a convoy, which left at 12.00 noon, was one option. This was not realistic as Sandra was sick with" Mummy belly". ... read more

05-10-08 With a rare free day, we decided to take a tour in a glass bottom catamaran to the coral reefs, just off shore. Brianna wasn't keen to go as she gets sea sick. We assured her it would be fine as the water was dead flat. We had to wait for the 2nd boat as we just missed the first one (not our fault the driver was late picking us up). While waiting we took a few photographs and Sandra almost got cast into the sea by a local fisherman who was fishing on the wharf. His hook almost catching her by the ear as he cast his line. Our boat finally arrived and we boarded for our tour. The water here is a beautiful aqua colour and as clear as crystal. We spent ... read more

Hello! Holly and I have just arrived back from the most amazing time snorkeling off the red sea coast at Hurghada.... but I don't want to talk about that just yet we have to catch you up on the last 7 days or so. Temples and tombs and enough history to make you wish you'd been paying more attention at school. We've been to Aswan, Abu Simbel, the High Dam and Luxor. I've taken around 1000 photos (thank goodness we live in a digital age) and luckily for you I cannot load them all here now! Where to start? After Cairo, the pyramids, the Egyptian Museum, the Christian and the Muslim ends of town we headed by overnight train to Aswan. The train takes usually around 12-14 hours but we took 20 hours and no trip ... read more
