Hello Everyone- Well it is getting close to Carnival time! Although this holiday is somehow tied to religion, it is a time with lots of colorful music, heavy drinking, exotic dancing, indulgent eating, or to sum it up, complete debauchery! We have our outfits all ready to go, the guys will be Captain America for half and Thunder Cats for the other half, while the ladies will be dressing up occasionally as Cleopatra - with very shiny (and little) gold outfits. It officially starts on Saturday the 25th of February this year, but the parties have been going ever since the start of the New Year. Now I am in the state of Pernambuco. Recife and Olinda are two beautiful cities (Olinda more than Recife) on the coastline where I spent four days. I stayed in Recife, Boa Viagem, next to the beach and in the mornings I was able to go running along the beach promenade. Sweet. I met some really nice people in the hostel that I could explore pre-carnaval with. Olinda is a colonial, very bohemian town built on a hill, next to tthe beach, with tons of winding small streets and lots of beutiful houses and churches. For those of you who know how much I loved the historic center of Montpellier - this was a little bit the same and very beautiful. Ging wat mis, dus had nog niet alle fotos van Porto! Trouwens....heel t land is op zn kop omdat the rolling stones en U2 in het land zijn. U2 in Sao Paulo en the stones in Rio. Om gek van te worden! Op het nieuws...op elk programma..iedereen heeft het erover. What´s wrong with these people?! Ze hebben hier trouwens ook big brother, maar het heet Biggie brother brasil. Een tictac wordt tikkietakkie genoemd en een laptop een lappietoppie. The Mad Pub, wordt dus maddie pubbie en McDonald´s;......macciedonalds. Suuuppperr grappig allemaal. Dus lavinia had bedacht dat lipgloss dan wel lippieglossie moet zijn, maar dat was dan weer niet zo. Hey=Oi, en verdomme is Droga. Hey People! Ik was een weekje geleden ook naar porto de galinhas geweest. Helaas had ik toen geen fotos kunnen sturen. Maar bij deze....alsnog een paar foto´s daarvan. Oi Pessoal!!! Tudo bem? Ik was afgelopen zaterdag naar een pre-carnaval feest. Het was echt suuuupppeerrrr. Letterlijk en figuurlijk. Iedereen was gekleed als super wat dan ook. Ik keek mijn ogen uit. Ik was zelf als catwoman, en merel als de duivel. Ja....een duivel ben ik al geweest he op Halloween. Helaas begon het halverwege te regenen, maar dat mocht de pret niet bederven! Het was echt super leuk en druk. Ik voeg wat foto´s toe met vrienden enzo, om jullie een idee te geven. Arrived at Rio airport knowing I had to meet Luke and Mike in Salvador on the 21st, that was as far as my planning went. Although I did read Alex Bellios book on Brasilian Football, very good.....After the cold weather of Patagonia and in preparation for Carnival relaxing on a beach sounded like the best option. I headed to the Go! desk and tried explaining my situation usual problem, me no speak tha Portugesa they no speak mucho Ingles. Luckily a Brasilian guy in the queue spoke english and helpfully translated my situation. A discussion with the Go! staff ensued where they all decided the best and cheapest option for me is Puerto Negro. The next flight was in 8 hours, result. Hallo allemaaalll!! Ik was dus dit weekend naar Tamandaré met een stelletje mensen, die mensen sporen echt niet. Heeele gezellig boel daarzo. Maar ze kunnen zuipen, niet normaal. Om 9 uur in de ochtend was iedereen al volop aan de bier. Ja, is normaal hier. We vertrokken vrijdag avond om 10 uur uit Boa viagem met een auto en een busje, ongeveer 23 man geloof ik. Ken nog steeds niet alle namen van ze. Waren mensen uit Nl dus, brazil, Spanje, Portugal, Senegal, Frankrijk en ook nog een Indier. En iedereen kon vloeiend portugees. Echt grappig. Om half 12 ofzo kwamen we daar aan. Het huis was net aan het strand en ff spullen gedumpt en gelijk t strand op in t pikke donker. Het was toen al geweldig mooi. Miljoenen sterren zag je. Mensen...hier mijn adres.... Rua Fernandes Vieira no 587 estudio: parque amorim, apt: 810 Boa vista - Recife - Pernambuco Brazil Ik ben naar Itamaracá geweest. was echt supppppeer mooi daar. En morgen gaan we naar een of andere club waar je kan zwemmen, fitnessen etc. En dan een weekend naar Tamandaré. Dat is een mooiiiii strand waar een vriend van ons een huis heeft, en daar gaan we met zn 20-en heen. Dus ik spreek jullie wel weer na het weekend.
