Where is best to stay for NY in Rio?

Does anyone know of a good hostel to stay in for NY, we are concerned about safety as well as value for money as we have heard it can get pretty dangerous around this time of year!

Dangerous??? it's a misconception that NYC, my city, is dangerous.. I have lived in manhattan all my life and traveled the world over.. it's more dangerous crossing the street in your city than it is here. oh..ok..i misunderstood..when i visit Rio Brasil, i usually stay at either the Praia Ipanema Hotel or Ipanema Inn ( less expensive) on Rua.Maria Quintera ...anyway, have a great time..and Rio is wayyyyy more dangerous than NYC anyway..be careful about walking around the Lagoa area ..and of course, don't carry too much cash with you..have a great time.
