Depuis trois semaines, nous faisons du volontariat dans un orphelinat a Sucre. L'expérience a vraiment été enrichissante, a mon avis autant pour nous que pour les enfants. Je dois d'abord préciser que Sucre est une ville complètement différente de toutes celles visitées en Amérique latine. Une énergie des plus rassurante et positive s'y dégage, nous pouvions nous promener la nuit sans craindre pour notre sécurité, encore moins qu'à Montréal. J'avoue que nous nous sommes fait attaqué vers minuit une fois, mais une attaque à Sucre équivaut à quelques jeunes de 15 ans qui te lancent des ballounes d'eau. La semaine du carnaval aprochant, il est très fréquent de se faire arroser dans la rue par des gens se promenant en auto. Efter at Mads tog flyet tilbage til Danmark fra La Paz, ville jeg til Sucre i Bolivia, for at undervise i engelsk. Vi havde været der før, så jeg gad ikke tage bussen igen, og når jeg nu var i lufthavnen var det oplagt at flyve. Da jeg stillede mig op i køen for at købe billetten var der kun 1/2 time til afgang, men jeg blev forsikret om, at de tog alle med som stod i kø. Da det endelig blev min tur (jeg var den sidste) var der kun 10 min til afgang og skærmen havde i lang tid vist, at der var lukket for boarding. Nå, men efter at være blevet sendt lidt frem og tilbage fik jeg købt en billet, checket bagage ind og så skulle jeg løbe sammen med en medarbejder ... read more

Ross: The night bus to Sucre had been made out to be an absolute nightmare of a trip in a stone age bus, over roads that were little more than dirt tracks. In reality the bus was quite comfy, smelled a bit and not quite enough leg room, and the roads although they were dirt tracks they weren’t to bad - bit bumpy now and again but the ride was smooth enough. We arrived in Sucre a lot earlier than scheduled (because we couldn’t get the later bus from Cochabamba) and headed to the hotel with no guarantee of a room for a couple of hours. We finished our last week of school for the year on an interesting note... I told my kids to pee in their desks and James called one of his students a 'female dog'! Not on purpose... we inserted a few wrong letters when trying to speak spanish. I wanted to get my kids to clean their desks and James was attempting to tell one of his students that she was lazy. My kids thought it was hilarious and wanted to pee straight away. But all up, it was a good end to the year and end to my teaching stint at Highlands... we had a fiesta and played lots of games. Hello everybody! In the last days i travelled trought the lovely city of Sucre, and now i'm in Uyuni, waiting to my 3 days tour to the Salt Lake and nearby regions. Sucre was amazing, i met a lot of people and we have a lot of fun. and, of course, the city is sooooo beatiful! I had to go away from Sucre after 2 days only because i didn't have enough time so, to do the 3 days tour into the Salar i had to skip Potosí = But it's ok, i can't arrive late at Cusco, thats my top-one priority, couse i have booked my hostel and my Inka Trail!
