Hi Guys. Some of you are getting emails about blogs that were wrote last year and I just want to explain what's going on. The website that I use had big problems last year and their server crashed. This caused thousands of people's blogs to be lost, eventually some were found, some were found but the text lost and others were lost forever. At the time I was pretty disheartened and haven't visited the site for nearly a year while working extremely hard in New Zealand :-) ...........Since then however I have arrived in India and decided to give it another go...........However I don't have the time (ok, thats a lie), the energy (all that hard work I've been doing :-)) or the inclination (the real reason) to re write those blogs that were lost but ... read more

Unfortunately due to me having a job interview for the forth coming ski season my trip in South America is cut short. I have only completed one of the three things that I really wanted to do before I arrived so I know that I will be back again soon! Just before I leave the tales of SA behind I just wanted to tell you a few facts about my trip. I have spent 342 hours - 14 days on a bus (not including local buses) 11 hours on internal flights saving me god knows how many hours travelling by land and just under 8 days travelling by boat (majority of which were on or around the Amazon). By the time you add the above to time spent waiting, getting to and from bus stations or ... read more

Hello Uruguay and welcome to Colonia del Sacramento a UNESCO World heritage site. A pretty little Colonial town with a lot of cobbled streets, original buildings with a quaint little atmosphere. A lot of buildings are built using original Portuguese construction and due to it being a site of historical importance there have been no alterations (you can tell this by the paint work I am sure) A nice place to bimble around for an hour or two, probably more appreciated by those over 70 (there was al ot of these type of tourists around, American tour group I think)... read more

I have spent the last two weeks on this island just a couple of hour’s boat journey from Salvador. Most of my time has been spent chatting, reading or sun bathing trying to give my liver a break after the carnage of carnaval. The plan didn’t quite go well the first few days as there was a full moon party which didn’t quite compare to those in Thailand but still managed to keep me up dancing all night. Every late afternoon was spent watching the locals play Futvolley. Basically this is a team of 2 on a volleyball court with the same rules except they can not use their hands or arms. Most of the hits come from the shoulder, head or flying backward kicks. Very skillful and great to watch. I left the island ... read more
