We travelled for another 230 km down the coast to Noosa passing through a fantastic little bay called Tin Can Bay. It was stunning with a lovely little harbour. It was extremely quiet when we arrived but we managed to find a lovely little coffee shop overlooking the bay. Kerry decided, yet again, that we were going to move here instead and her and her mum would run a little coffee shop just like this whilst Stu went out and caught some fish for her Sushi restaurant, which she also wants. Nothing like having sky high ambitions eh? We arrived in Noosa around lunch time and went for a drive around to get a feel for where we wanted to park up. We only found one campsite anyway but it was really nice and very very ... read more

Arrived in Sydney, not really sure what I was going to do here! First thing to-do was to find a hostel, I plumped for a hostel in Kings Cross called Eva's Backpackers, I found it to be exactly as it said I would in the Lonely Planet "Friendly"! Paid a visit to the kitchen, (the kitchen / dining room (I found along my travel's) is where you get to talk to most people!) There is usually some frenetic action going off in the kitchen, most dishes comprised of Pasta (of differing kinds')with a tin of tomatoes or a meal of meat and 2 veg. Our South East Asian friends' would be cooking rice with strips of beef in a sauce made with a tin of tomatoes. But whichever hostel I visited in whatever country, the scene ... read more

Arrived in Sydney where we are staying with Helen and Stuart (ruthy's sister and her husband) who live in Clovelly which is only a couple of minutes walk away from an almost exclusive beach. The weather has so far been perfect and the hospitality is top class. We have just had Helens home baked choc/banana cake for pudding, which was scrummy. After visiting Manly island today we took a power boat tour around the harbour, which span round and soaked us through. Getting out the leather jackets tomorrow for the Harley Davidson ride over Syndey bridge, then Australia day and lots more booze. Moving to Melbourne for Neighbours tour and Big Day out festival soon. Keep you all updated. bye for now... read more

First of all apologies to Coonabarabran for saying nothing happens there - apparently the day before we arrived, a gunman took over a house in the street next to the hotel, the police were called and the seige didn't end until Saturday afternoon, by which time we were ensconced in the hotel. From Coonabarabran we headed South west towards Dubbo. We were now on the fringes of the great plains to the west of the Great Dividing Range and everywhere you looked the land cried out for water, mile after mile of parched grassland and drooping gum trees. Many of the eucalyptus (gum) trees have a strange way of dealing with drought they loose their bark rather than their leaves and if it gets rally bad they drop branches before eventually succumbing to the drought. The ... read more

I realized yesterday that I am the happiest right now in Takaka that I have been since my first summer in the Tetons. I guess its the discovering of a new place and the finding a life inside it, the feeling that I could stay forever nestled in this little south island nook, cradled by the waves, lulled by the beaches and embraced by the bare footed people who may have come yesterday or been here a lifetime. I love the one street town and its artful shops and colorful stalls. The restaurant I am working for (the Brigand) is at the end of Commercial street following a row of shops including the Dangerous Kitchen who's 50 year old hippie owner serves trance music with her herbal teas. Across the street is the Organic Grocery store ... read more

Hi! So, I'm here- sound as a pound. Its day two and I'm already in this awesome house with a few other people...but let me take you back to the beginning.... So- on Saturday Jan 20th- I got on a place to San Fransisco. It wasn't a bad flight, although the movie "The Guardian" featuring Ashton Kutcher and Kevin Costner was a bit of a let down. I transferred planes in San Fran which was totally an ordeal- I had to take a fancy train from one terminal to another. It all worked out, even though I was a bit frustrated having to go through the security check again (they make me take of my shoes which isn't nice for ANYONE) So, I got on this huge 747 jet to Sydney and was in a middle ... read more

Hi, met up with Tommo (from bristol) on saturday...after getting extremely sunburnt wandering round town. Went into a bar and sampled the local cocktails! Went into some huge pub at night then onto this club...where they wouldn't accept my UK licence as I.D! The cheek of it! So some weird new zealand bloke told the bouncer we were "involved" and then i got in! I avoided him the rest of the night! Took it EASY like Sunday morning...all day sunday! Went to John's house (Gill's boyfriend). He lives in a mansion...i mean literally! He has a pool, tennis court, cricket pitch and thats just outside! Spent most of the day in the pool....it's surrounded by palm trees! Sampled a good set of "snags" on the barbie! Yum! There were about 15 people there, it was a ... read more

Greetings again from the great down under. The last week and a bit has been interesting. Getting jobs has been our main focus. After turning down that soliciting job, we were all back at the beginning. We were spending a lot of time and money at the internet cafe down the road so we decided to get our own internet (thanks to neils dad for the laptop). Getting the internet set up was a little expensive, but we crunched the numbers and figured out that if we were to stay with the cafe, altogether we would have been spending 200 a month there, which is more than having internet at our place. I came across a recruitment company named Hays. I met with one of the Hays representatives (he actually came over) he was a really ... read more

It hurts so much! In the last week we have gone utterly bonkers and seem to have signed up for any activity that causes physical pain. The madness began in Kaikoura with a gentle stroll up a vertical cliff face to a look out point. In cloudy weather. Ok, ok, so we didn't think... To cheer ourselves up we then headed to the Point Sheep Shearing Show (only in NZ...) where we watched in awe as a bloke sheared a sheep! It was great. Honest. Lucie also got to feed both a lamb and a huge ram - adding to the now huge list of animal encounters. The next morning, bright and early. Well, early anyway, we packed up our bags and set off for the Dolphin Encounter. Thanks to Moloy and Jules we were going ... read more

Bonjour and eyup from Brisbane. First thing I hear when I check into the hostel is Fake Tales of San Francisco by the Arctic Monkeys. All the way here and I hear 4 lads from down the road. Wonders never cease eh! We've had to bypass the Gold Coast as everywhere is booked up cos of the big day out concert. Heard it's a good night out so I'll definitely have to call by before I leave Oz. Anyway, here's what I've been upto the past few weeks. From Sydney we headed up the coast to a place called Port Stephens and settled into backpacking hut in the woods. It's supposed to be Koala territory although they proved elusive whilst I was there. We did have a few possums knocking around though, especially when I was ... read more
