So now I'm in Brisbane. I arrived yesterday, and am staying with Cindy and Aaron, who used to be my neighbours in unit 4 at Tweed Street. They moved to Brisbane 3 years ago and now own a fabulous 3 bedroomed house - quite a step up from Tweed St I tell you! We spent the day at Wet N Wild today withtheir daughter Elizabeth and had a fabulous time. Went on all the rides - most of them twice. Luckily for us the weather wasn't very nice, so there were hardly any people and zero queues for rides. Not sure what is planned for the rest of my time here. I'm camping with other friends at Byron Bay this weekend - so hopefully the rain stops before that.... read more

After leaving Sydney it finally feels like our trip has really started!! We arrived in the Gold Coast and while waiting in the airport for our shuttle all of these camera and tv crews started pouring in. Not knowing what was going on we asked someone and found out the Quicksilver surf team just flew in for a competition. There was a big press event with free food and drinks for everyone. Our hour wait definately went by fast when we had all those hot surfer guys to look at. And we saw Kelly Slater, to be honest I had no idea who he was but someone pointed him out for me. After the big festivities ended we boarded our shuttle and of course the second we left the airport it started to rain. Actually it ... read more

At Dreamworld we got to go in early, because we bought tickets through RACQ, which is different to RACV. The first ride was The Cyclone for Dad and Kate. I didn’t want to go on, so Mum stayed off with me. We went down and the next ride was Thunder River Rapids and we got wet, but it was fun. Next in line was the Log Ride. We got drenched, otherwise it was a lot of fun. Then we went to the Motocoaster. Dad & Kate went on first, then we all had a ride. After that we went to have lunch. On the way Kate wanted to go on the Nickelodeon ride, so Dad went on with her. Had lunch then went to White Water World. The first ride we went on was the Temple ... read more

On Saturday I got up early in the morning because we were going to Dreamworld and Whitewater World. When we got there the first ride I went on was called The Cyclone. It did two loops and it was very, very fast. Next we went on the Thunder River Rapids, then the Log Ride which you get drenched on. After we went on the Moto Coaster to dry off. Next stop Whitewater world. The first slide I went on was called Screamin’ Right Hander, then Cut Snake, then Broken Headz. Then on of the Little Rippers and then off to The Rip, which is a lot bigger than the Little Rippers. We went to a water playground called Pipeline Plunge. It has lots of water slides. Then we headed to the Green Room. My Dad and ... read more

We made sure we were up early to catch the sunrise this morning. It was beautiful and we took many photos at each stage. The beach is so calm early in the morning, especially near high tide. The hire cars aren’t allowed on the beach 2hrs either side of high tide. This morning high tide was supposed to be 10.50am, obviously people weren’t up and about before 9am - except for a few fishermen to travel along the beach, so we had it mainly to ourselves. Alex asked for the shovel to dig and Rod ended up digging his own hole, then Alex watched whilst Rod buried his legs. They then progressed to the water line. I watched for traffic, and called out when there was a car. The soft sand was hard work as the ... read more

What a triumph!!! After travelling 54,000 kilometres around the world my journey finally came to an end at The Magical Scarecrows LET'S MAKE MAGIC FOR A DAY event of 2009 at Dreamworld theme park on the glorious Gold Coast of Queensland, Australia. Forty-five children touched by terminal illnesses or other disabling conditions and their families were treated to the time of their lives when Auntie Lynn hosted a Variety spectacular with the first and last STARS WITH HEARTS to sign me. The chart-topping super hero of pop music, Leo Sayer, was there, so was acclaimed veteran Aussie star of stage and screen Barry Crocker, and heavy-weight boxing champion, Joe Bugner, as well as Aria award winning Australian Idol Cosima De Vito and host of the hit kids TV series "The Shak" Kendal Rae better known as ... read more
