Byron Bay Lighthouse
Byron Bay Lighthouse
The most easterly point of the Australian mainland
We went to Kingscliff to stay the night with Dad’s Uncle and Auntie. We left in the morning and had a picnic lunch with them before heading south. Stopped at Byron Bay, which is the most easterly point of the Australian Mainland. Drove as far as Grafton, by this time it was dark. It was a nice caravan park. In the morning it rained so we packed up quickly and we left to drive home. We kept driving and had McDonald’s for tea. I had a Grand Angus and it was delicious. Mum and Dad kept swapping drivers all the way [View Full Entry]

Dreamworld Oceania » Australia » Queensland » Gold Coast » Upper Coomera
At Dreamworld we got to go in early, because we bought tickets through RACQ, which is different to RACV. The first ride was The Cyclone for Dad and Kate. I didn’t want to go on, so Mum stayed off with me. We went down and the next ride was Thunder River Rapids and we got wet, but it was fun. Next in line was the Log Ride. We got drenched, otherwise it was a lot of fun. Then we went to the Motocoaster. Dad & Kate went on first, then we all had a ride. After that we went to have [View Full Entry]

Australia Zoo  Oceania » Australia » Queensland » Australia Zoo
On the way to the Gold Coast we went to Australia Zoo. “Crikey” it was good! It was clean and there were a lot of animals. I enjoyed it. There were some the lizards that were running around the paths. One went in with the crocodiles and others posed happily for photos. We saw a show, it was good. We enjoyed it. [View Full Entry]

Fraser Island  Oceania » Australia » Queensland » Fraser Island
On the barge to Fraser Island we sat up top and when we started to get a chill, we came down and played DS in the car. When we got to Fraser we drove to Central Station, where it is dingo safe. It was nice there with the dingo fence around the campground. We kept taking day trips out to a lot of different places with all bumpy roads. We are camping on the beach for the last 2 nights. We have been on most of the roads around the island. Saturday night we drove to Eli Creek to see the [View Full Entry]

We got as far south as Proserpine and stayed at the caravan park. In the morning we had a swim in the heated Olympic pool. It was fun. Left and went through Dingo Beach and stayed to look at Airlie Beach. They were both nice places. Then we drove to Eungella and stayed at the camping ground at the top of the valley. We drove to the dam and got there before 10am. It was nice, so we all decided to stay the night. I had a dip so I could call my family a chicken. Then Dad & Kate cooked [View Full Entry]

We came in to Black River and find our friends’ place (who we met at Longreach) which is a farm with lots of cattle. He drove out to the gate to let us in, but it took 5 minutes for him to drive from their house to the gate. When we arrived at the house, we chatted and not long after I got Richard’s whip and cracked it. A bit later Mum and Dad let me undo mine and crack it too. The dogs were scared. They are called JoJo, Spook, Girly, Floss, Womble and Buddy. They are all working dogs. [View Full Entry]

We went to the Tully Sugar Mill, it stunk like hell, especially for Kate. She hated the smell, but we learnt about the process of sugar being made. It was interesting and we had fun. Went to the Golden Gumboot at Tully and climbed to the top. At Wallaman Falls, I walked a 2km track with my Dad and by the time we reached the bottom, we were puffed. We went right in to the falls and I saw a scorpion. On the way back up, it was steep, hard and tiring. We got back to the car and I had [View Full Entry]

Went to Kuranda and looked around the markets and up and down the streets. Then we went to the train station and Skyrail terminal. We bought tickets to ride the Skyrail from Kuranda to Caravonica (near Cairns). On the way down, we stopped at Barron Falls and Red Peak. At the bottom we had an ice cream whilst waiting for Mum’s taxi to pick us up. We went into Cairns and walked along the foreshore and marina. We had a look at the Cairns Night Markets - lots of Chinese imports, Chinese massages and Chinese food. Went to the Port Douglas [View Full Entry]

Port Douglas Market - Coconut faces

Drove to Port Douglas for the market on Sunday morning. I spotted Steve & Jenni (our friends from the Craft Markets). We had a chat then we left to go to Palm Cove to get a camp site. For tea, we had a roast at the Life Saving Club. Mum was happy to have a roast for tea for a change. Went to Cairns in the morning to book our cruise to the Great Barrier Reef on Quicksilver. Came back to camp and Steve & Jenni rocked up to see us. We had a long chat with them, then Kate & [View Full Entry]

We left Punsand Bay and headed down. We ended up at The Bend in Coen, next to a river or creek. Coming down I found a coconut and tried to crack it open. I couldn’t, so I will ask Dad if he could get it open for me to try it maybe. I am doing my writing, updated my travelblogs. It is hot up here and we’re wearing shorts, short sleeves and thongs. We get dirty feet as well as clothes, so we have to wash our feet a lot. In the morning, I asked if my Dad to open the [View Full Entry]
