Thursday 12th May Seems a while since the last entry. Sorry about this. No computer access in Darwin and too much socializing in Alice Springs. Let’s return to Singapore. Reading back we weren’t that impressed initially but think that may be the impact Thailand and Malaysia had on us. The lush green rice fields, the colours, the miles of banana trees and all the smiling faces, odd sounds and smells we encountered made us slow to adjust. However, a trip to Raffles and a shopping spree in Chinatown helped. Our shopping was rudely interrupted by a dramatic tropical rainstorm. None of your drizzle, the very heavens opened. From laid back ‘buy it if you want’ folk to wee ants scurrying about with plastic sheets covering their ware. Not a hope of keeping anything dry. We were ... read more

Well Alice Springs was not what I expected...I imagined it to be a lot bigger and maybe cleaner too... I stayed at a hostel with my German friend Daniela from the expedition. Seemed strange to have an outdoor pool at the hostel, guess I'll see alot more of that the further north I travel... Everyone from the expedition met up at a place called Bojangles, for dinner and drinks. It was a real outback place but in the middle of the town. With saloon type swinging doors and peanuts on the tables which you could just chuck the shell on the floor...every step was a crunch in there! The toilets were strange too, with door handles on the wrong sides and the sinks tap not controlling your sink, but one say the other end...was a quirky ... read more

16-21 Mar - The Red Centre On our way back to Adelaide from the Clare Valley we got word that our car, Jenny, would take a week to fix (a week!) so another side trip was planned, this time to the real outback: the red centre. We did some last minute arrangements from Frank and Francis’ house (our kind hosts once again), which included a return flight to Alice Springs and the hire of a 4WD Landcruiser camper for 6 days. Taking a mid-morning flight had us in Alice Springs by midday - geez the baking heat really hits you out here! We didn’t look like the troupie types decked out in our business class clothes but a quick change into shorts and singlets we looked like every other backpacker tourist in the centre. After ... read more

Hello all!! Last message for the next 4 days for I'm adventuring myself to the Red Center today for a 3 day and a half Outback Safari tour! We're leaving in two hours (no cell phone, so don't try to reach us!) and I can't wait to live this adventure! Camping under the stars by the camp fire in the middle of the country with no traffic noise, no uncomfortable bunkbed mattress, just flies and weird animals and other people snoring :p Tons of fun!! The tour will take us through Kings Canyon and we'll have the chance to see two sunset at Uluru and one sunrise...The pictures should be AWESOME!! :) ... read more

Alice Springs! I'ts very hot here. There are flies everywhere. They attack me when i leave the shade or a building. Anyway, got myself on a hop-on hop-off bus for a tour of the town for a couple of days. I'll put some pictures up as i take them. Gonna go up Anzac hill tonight.....possibly.......unless i forget.....again. Anzac stands for Australia and New Zealand Army Corps by the way. Good tour guide. Yeah anyway, probably gonna head down to Uluru resort a spend a couple of nights there. I was thinking of getting a passenger Harley ride. We'll see. It would rock though. Visited the Telegraph Station, reptile centre, Old Ghan Museum and motor museum on Road Trains. All were interesting, and getting licked by blue tongue lizard and holding an Olive Python was awesome.
