Sydney, Australia - January 13th - 6:46pm Well today went good and bad I guess. I got up bright and early to head into Sydney for my interview. I wasn’t too nervous or anything which was surprising. I caught the train at 9 and got to Sydney by 10 with a few minutes to spare and slowly make my way to the office. The second I saw the guy I was a little sceptical. The entire interview I didn’t feel comfortable with him. He wasn’t very professional and it ended up that he needs me to be registered and he’s only looking for someone on Saturdays. So all in all it was a waste of my time to go down there. I feel he could have told me this on the phone during our initial conversation. ... read more

Penrith, Australia - January 10th - 10:00pm Today was one of those days that I think of how long I’ve been travelling and wonder WHY I don’t have my camera with me 24/7… So I got up around 10 as I was knackered from the long day yesterday. It’s funny how tired you get over the slightest day after doing nothing for a few days! Haha I did a little playing around on the computer, looking up a few websites that I received yesterday. Figured out where I have to go to get my tax file number and things. Jean was out for coffee with friends so I got ready for 12:30 as she was on her way home. We had to run into the plaza to get a few groceries. Jean informed me that her ... read more

Penrith, Australia - January 8th - 10:30pm Well today started out very rough. I was a little upset so I had a slow start. I finally got in gear and figured that I’d walk down to the mall to get out of the house. Jean said that she had to go down there as well so we’d meet up at the mall at 5:00pm. I figured I’d leave at about 3:00pm after researching for more jobs and things, but I ended up getting side tracked and didn’t leave till 4pm. So I didn’t have much time at the mall before I met with Jean but that’s alright. It turned up to be worthwhile for me to wait because at about 3:30pm I got a phone call from a lady in Newcastle for a massage job. She ... read more

Penrith, Australia - January 6th - 8:13pm Today was an alright day. I jumped on the computer when I got up searching for more jobs. I received a phone call from the clinic that I stopped in to see yesterday. Annette from Soothing Care Massage called and was very interested in me. She gave me some advice as to which way to go about getting registered. I’m hoping to get a registration but I don’t know if that’s going to work out. It seems like a lot of money to fork out up front. The days seem to be going slowly but I am completely tired. Doing nothing is tiresome. I figured I’d help Jean out and do the vacuuming. It took me a little longer as it’s so hot here I had to take breaks ... read more

Penrith, Australia - January 7th - 8:13pm Well today was an uneventful day. I finished my book and started a new one. I still haven’t heard anything about jobs but I’ve heard about a few places for rent. There seems to be some great deals but it’s the lack of funds and since I don’t have a job I don’t know where I’m going to be most of the time. I did receive an email from a clinic that is hiring a receptionist but all she said was that she’s in the final process of approving a new employee…what does that mean? Am I in the final process or am I done. I think she’s crazy. It was once again hot outside about 26 degrees, but I did manage to enjoy the weather and read outside ... read more

Penrith, Australia - January 5th - 6:20pm From here on in the blogs aren’t going to be very exciting. I got up at 10:00am and jumped on the computer to search for jobs. I found a few that looked appealing so I fired off my resume and we’ll see what happens from there. Jean did tiding around the house and then was kind enough to take me around the town. She’s off to work tomorrow so she showed me where the train station was and the bus stops in case I wanted to travel around. We went to a few gyms to see if they were hiring. One was mainly interested in selling me a membership but the other looked a little more promising. The managers were out at training so I left my contact information ... read more

It was a 5 hour flight to Sydney on Jetstar (Qantas’s budget airline). It was an easy flight as we had seats either side of us free, but you know how it is with night flights, decent sleep rarely comes, after dinner and a film there was little time left anyway. But it was definitely one of the flights where you wake up and you have dribbled on your own shoulder. Besides that, we had a rather late one the night before, thanks to Bali Hai and a Balinese Elvis impersonator. So we arrived in Sydney around 7am feeling tired. We waited another 1 hour for our oversized luggage to come through (surfboards), and then we joined the chaotic queue to pass through customs and immigration. This wasn’t really a queue, more a disorganised pushing-in frenzy ... read more

Well, we made it! We woke up at 4:30 this morning, 2:30am Sydney time, and went to the CC airport. Was a very smooth walk through customs and boarding, and 3 hours later we found ourselves walking on the tarmac in Sydney. Penny was pumped, she finally is standing on Continent 6. She had spotted the opera house from the air, so all that is left to see here is a kangaroo. After a quick tour of the customs area, we got out into the arrivals area and were met by our hosts Judy and Ray. We left the airport, dropped our bags, and headed for the Blue mountains. We got to see the 3 sisters and tour around some of the small towns that surround Sydney. The day was hot until early evening, then the ... read more

Touched down in Sydney tonight and was so happy! I actually flew into Sydney on Thursday but went to the Gold Coast for my cousin's wedding. Tonight will be my first night in my own bed!!! I am so looking forward to it! Our Europe trip was so much fun! We saw a lot of things in a short amount of time! I'm looking at the photos now and it's really hitting me what we actually did! In summary... * Fave cities - Barcelona - it's clean, has wide streets, best shopping, getting around on public transport is easy. I also liked Lucerne. Lucerne was just beautiful! Also had fantastic weather there. Amsterdam, friendliest people! Singapore, first-class city. Very modern! * Least fave cities - London, so expensive and people not so friendly. Paris, smokers smokers ... read more
