December 1st 2007

It's our last day in Bangkok. Well last full day. We woke up early this morning and caught the train to Chatuchak Markets about 8.30am. Lucky we went early! We left around 2pm and it was packed! Apparently 200,000 people visit each day! All without airconditioning! I started to feel a little light-headed after a while. The markets are crowded, packed together tightly and have everything for sale! Clothes, handicrafts, shoes, food, live animals, pet supplies, etc etc. Todd & I bought a few souvenirs and some clothing. Heading out to MBK soon. We think it's much better than Chatuchak. MBK is a massive shopping centre filled with cheap markets. Lots of gadgets, phones, electronics, clothes, handbags and shoes. Also lots of food and regular stores. Before we go to MBK we're going to pick up ... read more

Had a lovely couple of days in Phi Phi. We arrived by boat on Tuesday afternoon. Lucky I didn't get seasick! The travel sickness spray really worked! It took about 2 hours to get there from Phuket. Yesterday we went on an island hopping tour. We got to snorkel, swim, kayak around the islands and beaches of Phi Phi. Todd got to snorkel with sharks!!! I was too scared to go in. There were lots of pretty fish but we think the Great Barrier Reef is still better. We also got to see some tiny monkeys on Monkey Beach. They were so fat! The tourists kept feeding them bananas and corn. After the boat trip we went back to our hotel to relax. Had a few snacks and drinks, took a shower then had a lovely ... read more

Hi all!!! First morning in Phuket. Just had a lovely buffet breakfast at our hotel Salathai (Patong Beach) gorgeous here! We arrived late last night and given an upgraded room! Very nice! Slept in this morning till 9.30 and then down to brekkie. Booked an elephant trek, transfers to Phi Phi island for tomorrow and also a 2hr massage this afternoon!!! We spent the last week in Manila. WOW! Talk about busy! Every day we shopped! Managed to fill my empty suitcase to 20kg exactly!!! :) Todd did some shopping too. New shirts, polos and jeans. Me...well you know me... shoes (7 pairs I think), handbags, polos, Zara dress, jeans, tops!! :) Not much shopping left to do in Thailand. Just some souvenirs and presents. What else happened in Manila? Well... definitely ate heaps! I'm sure ... read more

Hi all! Been in Bangkok for 3 days now. Seen a few sites and shopped a fair bit! First night we flew in we checked-in, unpacked a bit, then hopped onto the Skytrain to Nana where all the tailors are located. Todd got measured up for a suit from http://www.dress-for-success.com/. Afterwards I went to another tailor to get measured up for a suit too. We grabbed dinner from Siam Paragon...in the food court haha! We had Thai - Todd found his chicken cashew nut (tho not the same as he's used to at home) and I got some curry. There has been some problems with language...sometimes...but for the most part it's been alright. There is usually someone who can speak English. I have been mistaken many times for a Thai local. They're always surprised when I ... read more
