Hi all!!!
First morning in Phuket. Just had a lovely buffet breakfast at our hotel Salathai (Patong Beach) gorgeous here! We arrived late last night and given an upgraded room! Very nice! Slept in this morning till 9.30 and then down to brekkie. Booked an elephant trek, transfers to Phi Phi island for tomorrow and also a 2hr massage this afternoon!!!
We spent the last week in Manila. WOW! Talk about busy! Every day we shopped! Managed to fill my empty suitcase to 20kg exactly!!! :) Todd did some shopping too. New shirts, polos and jeans. Me...well you know me... shoes (7 pairs I think), handbags, polos, Zara dress, jeans, tops!! :) Not much shopping left to do in Thailand. Just some souvenirs and presents.
What else happened in Manila? Well... definitely ate heaps! I'm sure I gained weight just from the 6 nights there. True Filipino style we ate every couple of hours. Tried all the different Filo chains - Jollibee, Shakeys, Max, etc. Todd enjoyed Lechon Kawali, BBQ, lumpia shangai. He also tried Buko pie, Krim Stix, pastilles, ube, puto.
We drove to Tagaytay (south of Manila) on Saturday. 11 of my relos and Todd
piled into a van and drove 2 hours south to see the sights. Unfortunately we got there too late and it was closed. Ahh the drive was heaps of fun anyways. We ended up having pizza that night. Biggest pizza I've ever seen. Will upload the pics when I get home next week!
What else to tell...oh! Took Air Asia to Phuket from Bangkok. I tell you what I was not impressed. They don't have assigned seating. So that means everyone pushes to get onto the bus to get to the plane, then push to get onto the plane. I don't think I'll fly them ever again. Have run into some sleazy and rude guys on the travels. YUK. There was this guy who even peeked into the ladies toilets when we were standing at the basins. YUK! I gave him filthy looks the whole time we were on the Air Asia flight. There were a whole group of them.
Phuket is filled with Westerners. We're staying in Patong Beach. Haven't actually ventured out yet but will in a couple of mins. Most people here can speak decent English...while in Bangkok I found that most spoke broken English.
In Manila everyone could speak English.
Wells I'm off. Todd's turn for the net. Till next time! Maybe Bangkok? Miss you all!
