Well, it wasn't quite terror, but the nerves do jangle when you look out the plane door and see the clouds a great distance below. You are literally hurtling towards your messy death until that cord is pulled, releasing your lifeline. Something wrong with the cord? It means people will be talking about you in the past tense. It's also pretty chilly up there. The actual jump itself was an absolute rush though. We booked the jump on the Saturday to go on Sunday morning (today) first thing which turned out to be a 5:30am rise. Thanks to Karen, we had a birthday gift voucher that covered my jump and then some, so that took a lot of financial strain off it, although we did opt to get the DVD/Photo package which was worth it. Despite ... read more

Hi Everyone!! I'm so sorry about the unbelievable time lapse between my blogs...what can I say I'm having far too much fun. So just to catch you all up super fast on the events of the past few months, until I can get myself caught up properly, is as follows. As you all probably know I went over to the west coast of Oz for a job I'd lined up with Finn, but that fell incredibly flat the minute I entered the country, ah well, I'm now convinced that was a good think, because as good funa s it would've been to work woth Finn, I'm not sure I could've coped with her boss and being in recruitment. It just seems to have been the final sign I needed to tell me not to carry on ... read more

After a hard weeks work we were ready for another weekend break!! This time it was a long weekend due to the public holiday for Australia Day. We had heard mixed opinions from locals about Australia Day but we decided to join in the festivities and have a wander through the city to see what was on offer. We headed to Hyde park where there was a large selection of vintage cars on display, some of which were for sale but way out of our price range!! The park itself had a number of food stalls offering a wide range of local and international cuisine. We decided to keep it Aussie and enjoyed a nice roll and sausage from the BBQ while sitting in the sun around the fountain. Nothing can beat the smell of snags ... read more

We arrived back from Laswon on the train, tired and insect-bite-ridden. My hand in particular had swollen to gigantic proportions after being bitten by some creature - probably best that I don't know what creature it was... The base for these last 2 days was the quite horrible Cooee backpackers. They believe a 'double-room' to be a tiny hole with a bunk bed cramped in between the protons and neutrons... We wanted to come back to say goodbye to Sydney and to see the Australia Day celebrations...... read more

Vejret er stadig upåklageligt ... read more

Before we start, we have some bad news ....... we're sorry to have to let you know that the Mills gerbils are no more....! Thanks to Philip, George, Archie and Harry for looking after them during their last couple of months!! Ok, so way back on the 17th November (yes, we're that behind!) we took an overnight bus from Vientiane in Laos to Chiang Main in Thailand. We actually made a rare decision and went to the guest house recommended by our taxi driver - just outside the old city wall with a tiny freezing swimming pool, we paid 400 Baht (just under 7 pounds) for a really nice room. We spent the first day walking round the city, the temples and the night market and enjoying our first taste of Thai food. The following day ... read more

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all had a fab time and have made plans for the new year. Christmas was a bit difficult as feels very strange spending it away from friends and family however I must say that I did have a great time thanks to my ozzy pals here. I also chose a great time to work as I benefitted from all the Christmas perks such as invites to 5 Christmas parties! Going back to where I left off with my last entry; I went to my first gig by myself a few days later. I went to see The Killers at Sydney Entertainment Centre and had a great time. I felt a little self conscious at first being the only one on my row but then I started talking to a group ... read more

Hello all! After a many hints and a few outright requests I got the impression it was time I did an update. Since I have spent the past month or so flat and job hunting I started to think that I had nothing to update about but then I reconsidered and I have done a few pretty cool things lately and have a pretty good lifestyle to match! Well after leaving sunny Perth I arrived in cold, wet rainy Sydney after a long flight and wasn't too impressed. I was instantly cheered up when my mate Andy who I've seen all the way along the east coast met up with me about an hour after I stepped off the shuttle bus and took me out with him and his mates. My first hostel was interesting, situated ... read more
