Tuesday 10.8.2010 day 300 Going to the south coast We woke up and it was raining so we decided to drive the coast road from Sydney to the south coast. We had lunch at Kiama of fish and chips at the beach. Then we drove on to Tuross head where we stayed the night at a place with fantastic beach views. ... read more

Day 335 - Depot Beach Having already done the big walk in Murramarang National Park, we had to cast our walking boats further afield in order to get some exercise. Pigeon House Mountain isn’t a terribly huge challenge, but it sounded like fun and walks that are fun are right up our street! There are a few kilometres of gravel track to traverse once we come off the highway just short of Ulladulla. It’s amazing what an hour long, very dusty road does to the mind when you’re heading into the wilderness! It started to send us a bit stir crazy as the vibrations from the corrugations rattled both of our brains. When we get to the car park we find it totally empty which is great news as it means there’s unlikely to be any ... read more

Day 334 - Kangaroo Valley to Depot Beach What a funny night that was, claimed by a Wombat! If we hadn’t seen it with our own eyes we would never have believed it. The lawn mowers were out again this morning which is a shame for the Wombats. They don’t seem to like cut grass and are steering clear of the piles left behind by the mowing team. We’ve really enjoyed our stay in Bendeela, it’s one of those simplistic places where there’s no set agenda of what to see or do - you can just relax and take your time. We even managed to take our time packing up this morning. We’re on the move again, although we should admit that staying here for another night was given decent consideration. As tempting as that was, ... read more

DAY 487 I heard Andy get out of bed, there were kangaroos thudding around outside, the sounds of the birds echoed through the rainforest in front of us. The sun was not yet high but I could see it was going to be a clear day and in anticipation of actually getting some photos of the beach this morning I once again grabbed my camera and set off to leave Andy enjoying the peace of the morning while I search for that one photograph that could some up depot beach and maybe just maybe an opportunity to photograph a kangaroo on the beach. Our Friends Marilyn and Lee Harris whom strangely we had met 1 year ago on the 11th of this month when we were in Tasmania, had enjoyed them selves and it was great ... read more

DAY 486 I was up bright and early -ish this morning, I said “morning” to Barry who was sitting reading the paper, about 4 mtrs away from the trailer, I can see a Kangaroo lying in a hollow that just seemed the perfect place for a lazy Sunday morning. It must be great being a Kangaroo as there is no washing up to do or any other domestic chores for that matter. As it was nice and early and camp wasn’t to busy I had grabbed my towel and wash bag so I knew I would get a nice shower before the melee started, so with my 2 x 20 cents I walked past, mother and Joey, they didn’t even look up or get distracted from the leisure of lying in a shallow culvert, and headed ... read more

DAY 485 We woke to a beautiful morning, absolutely beautiful after so much rain last night, and the fact that we had looked at the long range weather forecast which said very bad weather for Saturday, then we were pleasantly surprised to awake with the blue sky and the sunshine creeping in on the skyline. When I got out of the trailer the smell of the forest just seemed over powering, it seemed so long since we were last this close with nature, we both instantly realised just how much we had missed it. The Kookaburra’s were all around us, their distinctive laughing broke the silence of the morning, how we had longed to be back, and how glad we were to be here. We have power at our pitch, the Wendy house complete with awning ... read more

Nadaljevali sva voznjo proti severu do Bawley Point, kjer so me navdusile visoke sipine, dolga pescena plaza in ... read more

In my last blog I mentioned that we were going to see Craig Stewart at the Kempsey Heights Bowling Club, and I must apologize for spelling his name wrong. Jeremy and Michelle introduced us to him when they gave us a CD they had bought at the Tamworth Country Music Festival when they first heard him. We have been singing away to his songs ever since and could not believe our luck when we heard he was performing at the Kempsey Heights Bowling Club. Well we went along to see him and were not disappointed. He is a very talented singer/song writer and we were delighted to be able to purchase another CD - to give our old one a rest !!! At half time he happily chatted to us and told us of his life ... read more
