Yesterday was spent with Dave's cousin Emmajean and her husband Bill. Their hearty Hayden hospitality included accomodations at the Elks Club (no pool, Caps), a ,tour of Coeur d' Alene (lovely town on a big lake), and an amazing golf course with a floating green! The 14th green is 80 yards (?) out in the lake on a floating island. The island can actually be moved due to tournament play. A golfer has 2 chances to hit the green from the mainland; if he/she can't they are loaded into a small boat and driven to the island by the caddy and they drop the ball, play continues and then they are returned via boat to continue their round. We didn't see anyone hit the green but the wind was quite strong . Lots of whitecaps on ... read more

This a a posting to get everyone on board about our latest travel plans. We will be departing for the Yucatan peninsula on September 27. First we will head strait to Merida and then to the ancient ruins of Chichen Itza. Around the Equinox the pyramid at the ruins gets hit just right with the light and looks like a serpent going up the corner of the pyramid or something along those lines. I haven't read about it lately so correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway, we should be there by the 30th to celebrate my 30th birthday with the ancients as it were. Beyond that we will begin an extended journey for which we have no set itinerary. We are going to visit Natalie's uncle in Cancun for a short while and then continue ... read more

This weekend I went to a Antidoto Music festival at the Greek Theater in LA. It was all Latino bands, and all Latino people. It was like a music festival in Latin America, but for some reason this time I didn't try to sneak backstage. (Though for a second I was in the press area.) My friend Shannon won tickets to the show. They seated every ticket winner in a row in the exact center of the venue. We became friends with the gay couple who sat next to us, but only after we drank their wine without them knowing. They then proceeded to serve us wine. It was a pretty good deal, steal a strangers wine, and then accept it as a gift later on. We walked with the gays down to an atrium where ... read more

A very expensive trip but have eventually achieved one of my 'thing to do before I.....' My YMCA hostel near Central Park costs me $100 per day with about 40rooms sharing 3 toilets and showers at one floor. Me being the last person to take shower at midnight will have to make sure that I didn't take any deep or heavy breath until I've finished my shower (felt like in a Chinese vampire movie). Some highlights of my trip: 1. The Statue of Liberty - long queue, crowded ferry, sunburnt but how can one misses her when visiting the Big Apple. 2. Watched two Broadway shows - Mama Mia and Stomp - expensive tickets but satisfied! 3. Time Square - almost been there everyday, what a typical tourist. 4. West /East Villages - nice place to ... read more

On y circule assez facilement. D'autres suivront bien sûr.... read more

I am still preparing to get ready for my big trip to Africa. I think that I am getting use to the fact that it's accually happening. Befor it didn't even seem real that I was leaving and now I think I'm ready for it. Of course I'll miss all of my friends, but I think I'm ready to go now.
