Hello to all you loyal readers! Before I start I think its worth mentioning that all your comments are well appreciated. We notice when we haven't blogged for awhile because those friendly reminders of our kin back home and around the world aren't quite so present in our lives. We love those bits and pieces that bounce back at us from these. Love! On with the story… Just over two weeks ago Natalie and I headed off on a passport stamp trip. We just love getting stamps so we decided to travel all the way to San Cristobal de las Casas [View Full Entry]

Good Luck Turtles, we got to donate money and then release turtles into the sea
We are four months into the new year and I am finally sitting down to write an up-date. We got lost in space and time for a few minutes but we are coming back from our journey of adjusting. It seems when ever you move there will always be a period of adapting to your new surroundings. After all we are still creatures of habit so to alter your environment and surroundings is like sending your body and mind a small earth-quake. So what does it feel like to live in another country? Well it feels like it does any where….You [View Full Entry]

We made a calendar for anyone to download and print; just a little Christmas Gift. There are three forms of it so one or the other should work for everyone. There's is word doc., a PDF version, and a zipped folder of photos that maybe you could take to Fred Meyer, Costco, etc. and they will just put the photos in their calendar template to print. Otherwise you can come up with your own ways to print. Merry Christmas. Here is a link to our website and the calendar links are at the bottom of the menu on the left. Guatemala [View Full Entry]

Where to begin, I am not so sure so I will back up to the last e-mail. Since our last e-mail Tim got the job at the guide shop, the name of it is Old Town Outfitters. Those of you that don’t know Antigua means antique, this is a very old colonial town, hence Antigua or Old Town. Here is the link to the place Tim works www.adventureguatemala.com careful you might want to visit after reading all the different adventures you can go on! Which leads me to our next topic, we have moved into a small 2 bedroom house (room [View Full Entry]

Thank you for the earth!
How far must suffering and misery go before we see that even in the day of vast cities and powerful machines, the good earth is our mother and that if we destroy her, we destroy ourselves. ----Paul Bigelow Sears----- El dia de Gracias Hey everyone just wanted to send a quick note out to say that we are thinking of you on this day of thanks. In Spanish they call it the day of thanks and well I just like the sound of that a lot better. However Tim says I like the sound of everything better in Spanish. So [View Full Entry]

Antigua, Antigua, Antigua….say that a few times fast and you will sound like the conductors on the buses. Once you’ve seen a picture you will see what pride they take in these old school buses and once you’ve ridden on one you will know the excitement and chill it brings through out your body and mind……..However we did not arrive into Antigua this way. We had the great luck of hitching a ride to Antigua all the way from Rio Dulce, thanks to my old friend and Capitan Rodger. We were able to visit him and meet a friend of his [View Full Entry]

Well can you tell we've had a few days with good internet connection? Very soon we will be on the road again things may tail off a bit. In the meantime ... All I can say about Tikal is Wow! What a treasure. The amazing thing I think is that the place is massive and they are still uncovering and restoring it. So if you return a few years later, as Natalie just did, you might still get to see new things. Despite that, it’s huge and Natalie still hasn’t seen all of it. We spent a good six or seven [View Full Entry]

Ahhhhhh yeah I am back in Guatemala, my favorite country!!!! All the reasons I love this place are all flooding back to me as we walk around and explore. The small villages with vivid colors, cobblestone streets, smiling eyes and faces, the highlands with wide open country sides and jungles mixed in. Guatemala feels to me like an artist’s masterpiece, like a vibrant painting, like a brilliant photo, like a landscapers dream come true, like a writer’s climax, like a dancer’s fluid movement, like a breath of fresh air, like a place I have only dreamed of. I have been wondering [View Full Entry]

The Beach at Tulum
Space and Serenity, Wow!
Greetings All, Well as you might learn from this we didn’t find that sailboat from Isla Mujeres so we headed south and west by land. Our first stop was Tulum for the full moon. We were mostly interested in the beautiful beach camping right next to the ruins which we found after a long walk and a really short expensive cab ride. I will keep the story short but taxis are a pain in the ass. After our long walk we stopped at a Cabana rental and possible camping spot and learned that it was too expensive. When we asked about [View Full Entry]

destination located, we are on the island of women
If ever in a desire to escape to a white sandy beach with half the crowds and less of a tourist feeling I highly recommend staying on the island of women; Isla Mujeres. Rather than flying into Cancun and going straight to the hotel zone which seems to be a mini Las Vegas, catch a ride to the ferry terminal and get out on the blue crystal clear Caribbean. The ferry is 70 pesos or seven U.S. dollars for a round trip ticket to paradise. It leaves every 20-30 minutes through out the day and then ever hour after 8 pm. [View Full Entry]
