Washington DC - the capital city of North America. Tuesday 11th September to Saturday 15th September. We chilled out at Peter and Emma’s for the morning before Peter kindly came home from work at 10am to give us a lift to the Greyhound terminal in the centre of Philly. The weather is shocking, overcast, pouring down but still hot and humid. We definitely picked the best day to travel as the rest of the time the weather has been perfect. The bus was late so had to make good time in order to meet Yuri at her office in DC. It was another long, boring, uncomfortable trip - but it was cheap. I got chatting to an old black guy in his seventies who was originally from Philly. He used to be a bus driver and ... read more

Hello Again, Well done to all those who subscribed, disappointingly Holly loses, being the last to add her email to the list. Last night I went to the waterfront area, I managed to walk despite barely being able to move my legs, and went to Joes Crab Shack, a typical american, touristy place which was good, I had coconut shrimp which was tasty. Its strange being in a place where everyone else is drinking beer and not being able to drink. I decided to have a smoothie thing to make me feel less puritan, but my bannana and strawberry thing was bright pink and came in a big tall glass with an umbrella in it, which wasn't quite the look I was going for either! All was going well, until all of a sudden the whole ... read more

Another early morning to try and get to visit a temple ruin before the world and his dog arrive! Chichen Itza is one of the most famous and most visited temple ruins in Mexico. Apparently someone recently made a list of ´the new 7 wonders of the world´and Chichen Itza was on it. I just like the name, it reminds me of ´chicken pizza´!!!! It´s a really nice site, but unfortunately you aren´t allowed to climb any of the structures anymore which is a shame. Won´t bore you with any of the historical info, but I had a really nice morning there and left just as the coachloads of American and Japanese tourists started to pour in! ps Haven´t seen any rain for over a week- yey! So my brother & I turned 26!!! NO!! It sounds SO old! I don't like it at all! I feel like I should be 22. You're only as young as you feel, right? I'll just keep telling myself that! No, it's cool, I love where God has put me & what he's doing in my life right now. So, my mom treated my brother & I to New Orleans for our 26th bday. My Aunt Pam joined us. I had never been before so it was really cool. We had a bit of a surprise. A couple days before leaving, we found it out it was the annual 'Southern Decadence' Labor Day weekend!! The weekend we would be there. Of course, out of ALL the weekends to go during this huge, international event. Go figure. I ... read more

Posted by: Onaxthiel: Bozeman is only an umlaut and an S away from meaning “evil man” in German, or so Obfuscator tells me. I seem to recall hearing this before somewhere, perhaps back when I was taking German. One way or another, we didn't think the town had a very evil vibe, but the jokes about it kept us amused for the evening. There was, however, a weird smoke on the horizon of unknown origin in the morning. It made the drive right around town go from clear to low visibility in a matter of moments. The weather guy on the news the night before had told us that the temperatures would be in the 60s today, and that this was about 10 degrees cooler than normal for this time of year. If 70s is normal ... read more

Today was a day to explore the amazing city of Chicago. We started off trying to get out of bed and eventually managed but we were feeling quite ill today. We left the hostel and headed for a bike shop where we were taking a bike tour of Chicago. On the way we got a little lost and only just made it to the bike shop in time for the tour. I didn’t feel very confident riding a bike around the city so while we waited for people from the other trek I had a ride around for practice and it all came back to me quite quickly. Still no sign of anyone from the other group so after a half an hour wait we got our bikes (mine was called Trixie) and set off. We ... read more

Hey from the Big Easy otherwise Known as New Orleans, after leaving our crime spree of mississippi, we headed of our next state of Louisana, first stop was a swamp tour to see the alligators, the swamp where we did this was badly ravaged by hurricane Katrina and while some have rebuilt their swamp shacks some have just be left to rot, it was here that the hurricane actually hit and while the clean up is immense, after 2 years there is still more to be done. it started to hit me here how much damage was caused and how life must of changed. Our swamp guide reminded me of the nutty professor in every way and was great with his stories and had the most bizarre accent which all he could say was the accent ... read more

070918 Portland Oregon So much happened in Portland. I saw so many cool places and met hung out with some good people. The first night I was there I hung out with some people I work with. Portland is a place where a lot of co-workers live. Amber, Noah, Neil, Tamra, and I went to a couple of cool local bars and made we make it back to Amber and Noah’s despite a couple of misadventures with the Portland PD. Monday after brushing off a slight hangover I made my way to PDX, the Portland International Airport to pick up Sara. Sara’s a girlfriend of mine from Phoenix that I met in the spring. Hanging out with Sara over the next week was such a great experience. She had lived in Portland for a while so ... read more

Feeling a little tired from last night's cocktails, we had a 8.30am start. We visited the Monte Alban ruins until lunch time and then it was relaxation time. I'm a little pyramid'd out so I'm going to throttle back on the optional tours of ruins.... read more
