D'autres photos suivront....... read more

How do you know when it's almost time to leave? When you have already shipped the majority of your clothes and the movers have taken all of your long-term storage items! The cat is running out of places to hide and poor Inmate is down to only one toy! Only his Piggy will keep him company on the long flight :) Thursday and Friday the movers will be here to pack and remove everything else in the apartment for shipment. Unfortunately we still do not have any travel information!! Talk about coming down to the wire!! We're trying to get an extra week or two to allow more flexibility in our flight, but we've hit a dead-end. Our only contact for this type of request is a very unprofessional (and lazy!!) man. Since we haven't ... read more

We read about the terrible fires going on in southern California, and I wanted to let you know that's not us. We're further north than they are, and we're not even getting their smoke. However, our next project is at Victory Ranch, in Moreno Valley, and we heard this morning that they don’t have any power right now, and the camp is inaccessible because of fallen trees. We don’t know the status of our project there, but have no reason to believe it will be canceled. We leave here two weeks from yesterday. Being here obviously puts a different scope on things and we realize when something like this happens in Montana it’s bad enough, but when it happens out here there are so many more people affected. Our weather is very mild; it drops to ... read more

Today we got to sleep in which was an extremely rare occasion during trek. Hannah and I spend most of the morning in the Jacuzzi while watching the news about the terrible fires in California. We headed down to get some breakfast in Starbucks soon after and as we returned to our room we bumped into Dave who stayed out in the casino most of the night, he was up thousands of dollars. We got our stuff ready and walked down to the other hotel where we were meeting the rest of the group. We got sick of waiting for Dave and Sara and jumped in the van to leave but as we did we saw them just coming around the corner. We went to have lunch at the famous ‘Luxor” buffet. Hannah was full from ... read more

NEW YORK 22 OCT 2007 Had a crap night sleep from my roomy snoring his head off (Thank god hes only here for 1 night) and also from all the noise on the street (Workers, polices cars ambulances). NYC is without doubt a 24hours mad city. Got up early and set off on foot to explore more of the city. Burger king for breaky. Had a sausage and egg on a bagle (whats all that about??). Bought a hop on / off tour bus ticket for all all manhatton and brooklyn. Decided to do downtown first. (inc times square, madison sq garden, macys, Empire SB, Chinatown, little italy, wall st, ground ZeroRockfeller, and loads more) Visited ground Zero / World trade center visitors center. It takes you through the whole event, History, the build up, ... read more

Day 60 - Obfuscator writes: We had been forewarned that we would have rain all day, and this was indeed borne out by subsequent events. Vowing not to have a hideously boring driving day, we decided to do our best to get in position for the following day, while still seeing some of the sights of upstate New York. After examination of our atlas, we found that there were a number of battlefields and forts on our way up to Watertown, as well as Boldt Castle up in the Watertown area, all of which could put us in position for the Adirondacks on Day 61, and it would keep us on a scenic drive along Lake Ontario. Our first stop was at Fort Ontario in Oswego. Fort Ontario looked really neat, but like everything in New ... read more

We waved goodbye to the spectacular Californian coastline turned inland and were back in the mountains. Poor old Tommy had his work cut out, climbing up and down and zig zagging this way and that. Our next destination was Death Valley, doesn't sound very appealing. We left the threat of the great white behind and only had to contend with rattlesnakes, scorpions and tarantulas. Our biggest worry was conking out in the middle of the desert but luckily we got through and made it to the aptly named Furness Creek campground. Spent our first night literally under the stars (I think Nik fancied himself as a real life cowboy, I'll buy him a rocking horse when we get home), put our matress on the ground and spent the night gazing at hundreds of constellations and only ... read more

So here we are! We've made it to San Francisco on the first leg of our epic around the world adventure. The day of departure finally arrived and i boarded an early morning coach to Heathrow. I met up with Joe at the airport and after a short delay we were on our way to the sunshine state. The flight was fairly comfortable with only some mild turbulance, and after 10 hours in the air we landed at San Francisco International. It was a slightly scary feeling to be leaving the airport and not being 100% sure where we were going. We took the Bart underground train into the centre of the city and used our skills as geography graduates to find our way to the hostel. Its amazing how many homeless people there are in ... read more

Dear Blog Readers who must wait, Blame no connection or blame the writer, but I have missed a few days. From Freeport, MI Where we weathered our 2nd BIG storm...torrents of rain, wind, and curl up with a good book weather (no fireplace). Next day...bright and sunny! Our weather has really been incredibly delightful for autumn in New England. Found a cute sounding place in New Hampshire, Henniker so we stayed there, walked to church and tried to use our cell phone. The big event that night was a preHalloween Scary Hay ride. Members of a snowmobile club get together, camp, and REALLY decorate their campsites with special effects. Then, kids & adults from the area come to get scared. It was really creepy and dark. It reminded us of Karol Hall's party. Onto Massachusetts. Thank ... read more
