Jenny and I slept in which was really nice and got all our stuff together before checking out. We stored our bags at the hostel and then took a bus over to the Ala Moana Center. Did some souvenir shopping and I found a sarong I wanted, a necklace, a surfboard keychain and a hawaiian dress (it’s blue and brown..love it!!!) Had a traditional Hawaiian plate lunch for lunch. BBQ chicken, 2 scoops of rice, and a scoop of macaroni salad. Was really good and very filling. Didn’t finish it actually. Then we caught the bus over to the Hilton Hawaiian Village hotel to check it out. Took some pics, walked around and found the flamingoes. Then we saw the penguins and turtles, 2 of my favs!!!! So cute. Stopped at a bar on the beach ... read more

This morning I booked a couple of tours for Thursday and Friday. Doing a Grand Island Circle Tour on Thurs and the Polynesian Cultural Center with a luau and show on Friday. Super excited for that. After that I hopped on a bus to Pearl Harbor. It's about an hour away by bus and I got there at 9:15am and already there were lots of people around. You have to go and pick up a ticket to tell you what time your tour will start. I had to wait about a half an hour for my tour. They have a gift shop and a small museum there so I walked around and had a look. The first part of the tour you watch a 23 minute video about the day of the attacks. Dec 7, 1941. ... read more

Ich hatte von Sydney her in Hawaii keine accomondation, also kein Zimmer, gebucht. Also einfach mal so schauen was es hat war die Devise. Doch ich konnte in Australien nicht mal den Flug einchecken ohne Reservation. Wiedermal ne flotte Lady ... read more

Time to pack up suitcases & catrch a flight back to Australia. Arrived at the ariport & went up to the lounge for breakfast. Well hooray, eventually a lounge that serves up Vegemite. This has been the only thing that I have missed, having vegemite on toast........ Becc & I went & did some Duty Free shopping before we boarded the plane. Left Honolulu around 10.50am, for a 10 hour flight back to Sydney. I was suppose to stay in Sydney for 3 nights but changed my itinerary. Woke around 5.00am got up & went for a walk, met Jase down on the street. We walked along the beach, it was magical to be out this early, very pleasant. After our walk went back to the room got our bathers on & headed down to the beach with Will. Swam in the ocean, very crisp & cool, stayed in for over an hour in the water, this was terrific fun. The water is crystal blue & clear, nice to be swimming & soaking up the life in Honolulu. After my swim went shopping again.......more t-shirts for the girls, clothes for me & I had to buy yet another suitcase for all my excess luggage. I got charged excess flying from San Fran to Honolulu so brought another case. Jase & Becc could place this ... read more

Had to wake at 5.00am, oh not well had around four hours sleep. Feeling really ill, but got up & packed bags again & caught a flight out of San Fran to Honlulu around 9.00am. The flight took 5 hours, it went quite quick which was good considering the way I was feeling. Arrived at lunchtime, yea it was hot, very hot, sunshine & blue skies. This is going to be great to get a suntan in the middle of our winter. We were staying at the Hyatt in Waikiki Beach Resort. This was a 5 star resort with all the perks, what a fantastic room we had & a balcony overlooking the beachfront. No need to go anywhere but to the poolside. Becc & I got inot our bathers & headed straight to the pool. ... read more

July 28-30 Saddened by the thought of this being my last few days, I found it difficult to kick my butt into gear today. Strange, I know, because you’d think I’d want to be out, enjoying my last precious moments of paradise; instead I spent much of the day inside the house. At least I had a Hash to look forward to. Around 4:30 I headed down the hill to Safeway to purchase the required swag for a Tuesday night Hash: liquor and a snack for afterwards. Terry, Dave, and Aric picked me up there and we headed just across the highway to the university where the Tuesday night Hash group stood around socializing before the run. It was a gorgeous run, in the sprinkling rain, around the Manoa area and through the UH Manoa campus. ... read more

July 25-27 Time has flown by. My summer is quickly, too quickly coming to an end. It is the final countdown to departure. It's Saturday morning, my last Saturday morning...I met Terry at Niketown for my last Saturday morning run. It was hot out and I was exhausted; we ran 4.5 miles around Ala Moana and were both happy when it was over. My short runs are definitely improving, but I am a little worried about my long ones. The 1/2 marathon is only 3 weeks away and my longest run here in Hawaii has only been around 9 miles. I hope all this working out will carry me the extra distance! I said my goodbyes to the Nike employees in case I am gone by Wednesday, and thanked them for providing this awesome weekly experience. ... read more
