Michael and I drove to Atlanta and back on January 10, 2006. We went straight to the SunTrust Plaza. SunTrust Bank started in Atlanta and has its corporate office there. We went to the top floor of the building. There seemed to be SunTrust branches on every corner as we drove around town. SunTrust is the 9th largest bank in the country, in 8 southern states and Washington, D.C. It has 1100 branches with assets of $88 billion and deposits of $55 billion. Michael and I talked about his job. He is thinking of working full time as a Financial Services Representative while SunTrust pays toward his MBA. With his Master's, he can become an Investment Consultant. I wanted this trip to be oriented toward Michael's career. We meant to get a hotel but started going ... read more

First and foremost, I hope that everyone had a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year, or really, a happy holiday of their choosing! A brand new year is here (thank goodness!), but while I’m a ways past the travels I’ve written about here, my work and thoughts on and about this study abroad in Italy are far from running dry. I feel as if I can ‘complete’ my main entries about each part of the trip with this entry, though, for we’re now at Rome. All roads may indeed lead to Rome, but my trip finished up here, and we flew out from Leonardo DaVinci airport near the city in the early hours of July 20, 2007. I could say so very much about what I really loved or can’t wait to get back to, and ... read more

I'm officially back in the States. Actually, it was a pretty quick transition back to work.I'm sitting in the NICU on call as I type. The babies are chilling. While I am glad to be home, I most definitely could use a bit more vacation. The trip went by so quickly. I had such good intentions to chronicle all the details, but as you all experienced that didn't work out. My internet access was pretty limited once things got going for me in Malawi. Then we were constantly on the move in Kenya, so blogging was out of the question. Despite falling off the blog wagon, I still have a lot to share. Thankfully, I'll have some down time coming up over the holidays. I'll be heading home to Cali to hang with the fam, and ... read more

Hola. Endlich in Suedamerika angekommen.

Obfuscator writes: This ought to be a short entry, since nothing really happened at all. We got out of our motel in Charleston and started driving toward Georgia, only to find about 20 minutes into the drive that I had left the battery charger plugged in in the motel room. So we had to turn around and get it, which was slightly infuriating. I drove until about somewhere around Macon. Onaxthiel worked on blog material and pulled pictures off the camera. We switched then, and I worked on burning pictures onto CDs while he continued on to Columbus. Somewhere in there we got a special treat! Boiled peanuts! A tasty southern snack that tastes as awful as it looks. Now, don't get me wrong, if you're the kind of person who likes to go into the ... read more

Two finals down, one to go. I cannot believe how quickly this semester has flown by. I picked up my passport today with my cool new visa, very exciting, so now I can officially go. Yay. As exciting as this next semester is going to be, I am sad to leave Athens. I love it here so much, and I don't know what I am going to do without all of my friends, most of them I won’t see until next August! It is bittersweet, for now, but when else will I get the opportunity to live in another country? Plus I'll finally be fluent in Spanish! I have to move out of my apartment on Saturday and I feel like all I ever do is pack. Ugh, and the thought of packing a semesters worth ... read more
