This week has been a lucky one for me. It started off when I went to pick up my rental car. I was happy with the budget option which the website said would be a Ford Focus (Americans don't do small cars) but when I went along to pick it up they didn't have any available - all they had was a Ford Mustang! Nice. I won't slag off the Focus as most of my family reading this own them but it was certainly easier to 'light up' the Mustang which of course I did at every given opportunity. Then when I got to Orlando (or Manchester as it should be known on account of it being jam packed with Mancunians) the day before the launch there was only a 30% chance of it going ahead ... read more

At last, I finally get to sit down and tell you all about the crazy last few weeks!! Ever since January 10th - when my last few College Program buddies went back to their home countries, but the United States was bombarded by Lauren & Kat's arrival - it's all been pretty much non-stop here. I was lucky enough to get 9 days off work so I could spend time with my friends, and discovered that it is definitely more exhausting being a tourist in Disney than working there!! The first few days the girls were here we hit Animal Kingdom and Sea World, as well as indulging in the classic girly activity of SHOPPING! (Hard to resist when the exchange rate is so good...) My feet were killing me after only a couple of days ... read more

Flat Ryan was thrilled to visit Disney's Wide World of Sports and Downtown Disney. We hope you enjoy the pictures. Flat Ryan mailed his fourth postcard today from Orlando. He was able to meet Mickey and the whole gang. They hope the real Ryan will one day get to enjoy this wonderful adventure for himself. They send their congratulations to you on a project well done. They asked if Flat Ryan could stay and be in the parade but I explained again that Flat Ryan had to return to Jacksonville, Florida. We are headed back home now after another busy day. They gave us some Mickey stickers for the Real Ryan to share with his class. I will send them back with Flat Ryan. ... read more

Well today we are off to Disney World...looked at the brochures and decided that Disney's Magic Kingdom was the same as the one in Los Angeles that we had visited before so I had heard about Epcot so we decided to go there...not really knowing what to expect but it is Disney World so come on it must be good. Disney World is located just on the outskirts of Orlando it is quite an area it has it's own freeway system to get you to all the different places and a lot of Resorts and Hotels located within it's precinct. It was easy enough to find your way as everything was extremely well sign posted as you can see. Our first "shock" was $11 to park the car but they have a captive audience what can ... read more

Happy 2008 everybody!!! I am sat on my sofa slowly recovering from a crazy crazy week of saying hello to the New Year and goodbye to a lot of my friends as their programs end and they head home to all 4 corners of the globe. So it's been a week of mixed emotions for everyone. I'm excited for 2008 and the rest of my program, but very sad to see most of my friends leave. Christmas Day was a lot of fun, albeit completely different to any other Christmas I've ever had! I had 3 - count 'em! - Christmas dinners, all of them on Christmas Eve. All my roommates are from South America and it is their tradition to eat Christmas dinner at midnight on Christmas Eve, so we attempted to cook a turkey ... read more
