Flat Ryan had a relaxing weekend at home with the family and left this afternoon headed for his next destination, Kelowna, British Columbia! He's traveling USPS International First Class and he has his passport in hand for when it's time to cross the border! The McKenna Family will be teaching Flat Ryan how to ski!!! Flat Ryan arrived home safe and sound this morning! He has already unpacked and is on the couch "stretching out" after his long trip in cramped quarters. He is glad to be home and wants to thank the entire Hughes Family for making him feel like part of their family, treating him so well, and taking him to see so many wonderful places in Florida. He really learned a lot too! The real Ryan will take the wonderful Disney stickers to school tomorrow and share them with his class...they will love them! Flat Ryan was thrilled to visit Disney's Wide World of Sports and Downtown Disney. We hope you enjoy the pictures. Flat Ryan mailed his fourth postcard today from Orlando. He was able to meet Mickey and the whole gang. They hope the real Ryan will one day get to enjoy this wonderful adventure for himself. They send their congratulations to you on a project well done. Megan is competing in a gymnastics meet at Disney World this weekend. Flat Ryan is going to Disney! We will pack up this afternoon and make our way to Orlando, Florida. We travel all over Florida and some parts of the United States with gymnastics. Megan is a talented gymnast and practices at the gym 15 hours a week after school. Its is a very busy schedule. On weekends, she often travels to many destinations to compete at an elite level. Maybe one day she will be in the Olympics and Flat Ryan can say he traveled to meets with her [View Full Entry]

We were able to enjoy some time at the beach today. Flat Ryan was excited to see the waves. He wanted to surf but I explained that he did not pack a wet suit. He settled for some fun in the sand. We also stopped by Nathan's first grade class to say hello. Some of the students have read the Flat Stanley book so they knew immediately who Flat Ryan was. Flat Ryan is safely back in Jacksonville, Florida. He will mail his third postcard tomorrow. It is a post card of the same spot at Florida State University where his photo was taken. Hopefully, your class will receive it soon. Since today is a holiday, Flat Ryan enjoyed the day playing games with the kids. We are hoping to get to the beach tomorrow. Flat Ryan spent the day at a gymnastics meet in Tallahassee, Florida on the Florida State University campus. Flat Ryan went to college! Tallahassee is the capitol of Florida. Flat Ryan also enjoyed visiting the capital building. We are sending a photo of Flat Ryan taken on the Florida State University campus. He has expressed some interest in attending when he is older. Several college students asked if Flat Ryan was okay. I explained his story and they laughed. Flat Ryan sent an email today letting us know that he is having a wonderful time in Florida. He will be making a quick trip to Tallahassee with the Hughes family this weekend for a gymnastics meet. He has learned that Tallahassee is near Florida State University and that it is also the capitol of Florida. He plans to send a postcard from there to his classroom next week. Surprise...surprise! Flat Ryan arrived safely this afternoon in the warm sun of Jacksonville, Florida. He was greeted by the Hughes family who helped him unpack and settle in. The 80 degree temperature must have been a shock to his system after leaving the cold, snowy weather of Southwestern, Pennsylvania, as you can see from the photo of him "chilling out" by the freezer! He enjoyed a short ride to the store to pick out a few postcards to send back to his classroom next week and will be taking a day trip to Tallahassee on Sunday.
