Well, I thought our day would start at 4am but the nervous Nelly’s decided that we should leave Friday night so that we don’t have to worry about traffic, leaving late or accidents on the road that would make us late. I love traveling with the girls that think our luggage is going to get lost and all the glass half empty stuff. They are a pleasure. I told them I’m gonna change their thinking and work on thinking positive. Anyway, we headed out just after 11pm. Don’t tell my mom. She will be mad. I will say there aren’t many folks on the interstate this late at night. We did find one or two that are might need a little visit from the county Sherriff. Holy intoxicated, sleepy or just plain bad drivers. Busy Bee ... read more

The one about the Disney Experience. There are no pictures in today’s blog, , not yet anyway. I have no wifi where I am writing this and I have so many pictures to edit and add here. I want to wait until I get some type of wifi signal in the next few days and will add them when I can. NOTE: I ADDED PICTURES ON THE FLY ONE DAY. SOME TURNED OUT UPSIDE DOWN AND FUNKY. YOU GET THE IDEA. Disney World is such an awesome place. It is impossible not to get wrapped up in the whole excitement of the place. On one of our tram rides someplace I spied a young couple wearing the “I Do” pin Disney provides to the “just marrieds.” They were married 2 days ago and all glowy. Cute ... read more

“As Seen On TV” — something new for us to investigate. On a local TV channel, an advertisement for the Lake Eola Farmers Market has been running. Said over 200 vendors selling their goods at this Farmers Market. Held every Sunday from 10-4. Why not? Let’s check it out. Only problem is it’s located in downtown Orlando ...just beyond the Amway Center. With the extensive construction on I-4 that is and will be going on for years, we get jostled around in our touring car as we make our way through the weaving, congested traffic. Lulu gets car sick easily so she stays under wraps in her carry bag.....just in case. Cory steers us up one street and down another until we can see the pretty lake in sight. Not familiar with the parking arrangements, we ... read more

We spent the last 10 days in Apopka, Florida at a really nice KOA, visiting local family Mom, Dad, Julie and Tim. It was a time to get off the road, catch up on laundry, shopping and most importantly all the family news. The weather in Florida was a bit cool, (especially for the Florida folks) but after Charleston it was still really nice for us!!! Seeing family is always the best of times and so far this trip we've seen our Ohio, Maine, Boston, DC, Georgia, and Florida family. Hopefully, this week we'll see our NC family as well. I guess you could say we have a modern family spread far and wide...so unfortunately we only get to see them at best once a year. The northern folks we saw this summer/fall and the southern ... read more

We are back! Ann, Riley and I returned from a fabulous vacation in the Caribbean and at Walt Disney World. I’ve included a couple tips for Walt Disney World at the bottom of this blog as we found them very helpful for avoiding long lines, saving money and generally feeling more efficient. We flew down on a Friday and had a full day Saturday to get acclimatised before heading to the Port Canaveral cruise terminal on Sunday. We had purchased a 5-day (for the price of 4 days) Disney World pass. Instead of trying to squeeze all 5 days at the end of our trip, we decided to use one before we cruised. We slept in after our midnight arrival then took an Uber car to Disney World Hollywood Studios. We had read that it was ... read more

... read more

This was supposed to be the boring last post where we just got on the bike and rode the last 300 miles home on the flat, straight, boring Florida roads. Unfortunately, that's NOT what happened. We spent our last hotel night in an Embassy Suites in Savannah - Thanks again, Maureen. Embassy Suites has the best breakfast with made to order omelets. They were delicious! It was about 9:00 when we finally hit the road, the Garmin Lady had us getting home at 3:11 - Perfect! The first part of the ride was exactly what we expected - flat, straight and boring. The scenery began with typical southern strip mall, and eventually turned to southern rural. The sky started out ominous, but as the morning wore on, it cleared as it warmed. We were about 1.5 ... read more

We both woke up before the alarm. I went out on the balcony to watch the sunrise and Nikki got ready. Today was debarkation day. After we were ready, we went up to Windjammer Marketplace to get breakfast. We ate leisurely because our debarkation time was not estimated until 8:30. We strolled around the deck after breakfast and then went down to our stateroom to grab our bags and head to the Silk Dining Room to wait for them to call our debarkation group. We waited about 15 minutes and then got off the ship. It went fairly smoothly and we were in our rental car and on the way to Walt Disney World within an hour. We had decided to go to Disney's Animal Kingdom and see the new Pandora area of the park before ... read more

It's our last day in Orlando. The Goldwing is packed and we are ready to go! First stop tomorrow will be St Augustine, FL. Jody and I can hardly wait to hit the road again. We both must have a little gypsy blood. Jimmy will take care of the house, Cindy and Julia will take care of the hamsters, and Bill will take care of the lawn. Jody and I will take care of the fun. We will follow the same format as our last trip (still visible for a little while at www.travelpod.com/members/rickr53). I just found this travel blog site a couple of days ago when I found out that Travelpod was going out of business. It looks like I can do all the same things as my last blog, and I will post every ... read more
