UK Michelle and I got up early and headed to the Waffle House for our free Contiki brekkie - very yum!! We got someone to call a cab for us, then we were on our way to Universal Studios!!! Universal in Orlando consists of two parks - Universal Studios, and Islands of Adventure. We decided to do Islands first, because it had the better roller coasters!! Orlando - The Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World - 37°c I was awake a good while before my alarm went off at 6:45am whilst I was in the bathroom, having to run back out into the bedroom to turn it off before it woke Nathan and Tim next door! Temp: 36°C We got up today and walked down to the Waffle House for brekkie as we had an included meal. It was ok, a waffle, scrambled eggs, hashbrowns and an OJ. Headed back to the hotel by 9:00am as Jerry was dropping people at the themeparks. As id already done Disneyland, California Adventure Park and Universal Studios in LA, myself, Lauren and Dani decided to use the money we saved on an entry ticket to one of the parks on checking out the Prime Outlets. The two-day drive (for me) between Asheville, NC and the Orlando area (actually Kissimmee/Lake Buena Vista for Walt Disney World) went fairl uneventfully -- no highway blockages or major construction. Not thrilled about DGS singing along to his i-pod -- afraid he's inherited my nonmusical gene, poor kid, fortunately he has lots of other stuff going for him. Stopped about halfway in Richmond Hill, GA -- dinner at a marginal "Mexican" restaurant and stayed in an okay Days Inn ($39.95 with coupon). Included breakfast was also fine. Well, hopefully I've learned not to make promises about maintaining my Blog -- no luck with "Trips" feature, and obviously I didn't do any entries while actually on the trip. In hindsight it was a pretty good trip, but often seemed less than magical while we were there (the heat and crowds were worse than I had expected), and I'm looking foward to my next trip to Florida this Fall. Several highlights and no major problems -- some "learning experiences." If we hadn't been mostly staying in timeshare units, it probably would have been a much worse trip.
