3/5/2014 - Today going to torture our bodies again with a lot of walking. Headed to EPCOT Center. Oh, parking at each park is $15.00 per car. Left for park at 09:30am. Some of the attractions we did were: Mission Space - Aleta and Shelby T did the "orange" lane (more intense) while Barbara and Jack did the "green", Spaceship Earth, Test Track (Jack and Shelby T did this one - Jack lost his EPCOT hat of 25 or so years on the ride). Ate lunch at the Electric Umbrella in the park, then did The Seas with Nemo and Friends (short ride, then there is an aquarium involved), Soarin (must ride - as if you are hang gliding over California landscaped), Living with the Land (greenhouse ride - Nine Pound Lemon Tree), Circle of Life, ... read more

3/4/2014 - Today headed to Magic Kingdom. Took the ferry into the park. We did The Hall of Presidents, The Carosel of Progress, It's a Small World, Space Mountain, The Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Carribean and ate in the park. Hall of Presidents - life like automatons of all the Presidents, some of then stood and talked. Space Mountain - Aleta and I rode this one, Aleta screamed the entire ride, I laughed and held on tight. :-) The other rides/attractions were really neat. They now have included in the price of the ticket "Fast Pass", this gives you a fast pass to 3 rides/attractions of your choice. Really good. Stayed at the park for the light parade, the fireworks, and the light show on the castle. All was amazing, especially the light show on ... read more

3/3/2014 - Made it into Orlando today. On the way I discovered that turn signals and brake lights had quit. Discovered this just a few blocks from Bill Fredrick Park at Turkey Lake. Checked when we arrived and disccovered a blown fuse caused by a bare wire going to the lil truk. Another interesting event today, as we are coming into a construction zone on I4, we got behind by a couple of cars a truck hauling a mattress and box springs. Yep, the mattress blew off onto the highway which was bordered by the concrete walls put up for construction. A little exciting avoiding the cars avoiding the mattress. :-). Kylie, Amanda, Keegan, and Janet came by for the afternoon to visit. Had pulled pork sandwiches for supper Jack brought a salad, then ht the ... read more

Our last week in Florida. What can you say about Disneyworld ... Walt is so good at make believe and fake destinations. It's time-travel on a budget -yes in one day you can visit Asia and Africa by just turning a corner or crossing a bridge . So a walk round the lake at Epcot saw us wandering from Paris to Morocco, Norway, Italy and Mexico to name just a few countries and on the way you can rub shoulders with Alice, Snow White , Donald Duck and Mary Poppins will make sure you are on your best behaviour. From the Tree of Life and Swiss Family Robinson's home to the African Savannah and Tom Sawyer's Island we were whirled around on mono-rail, old fashioned trains, paddlesteamers and rafts for 4 days visiting Epcot, Magic Kingdom, ... read more

Saturday, January 25, 2014 Our last day of vacation - we made the most of it by arriving at park opening and leaving just as the park was closing. Jen was great and hussled with me to the safari ride as soon as we arrived, so we could avoid the 60-minute wait that stacked up within an hour. Friday, January 24, 2014 Back for another round at Hollywood Studios. We made it a slow day and took the opportunity to just kick back and enjoy ourselves. The pirate show was a let-down, totally designed for kids and no seating. But the day was saved by the most excellent performance of Beauty and the Beast. Of course, I silently cheered for Gaston - he's such a looker! Thursday, January 23, 2014 Jen and I returned to the Magic Kingdom for a full day of fairy tales. The big highlight of the evening, and one of the top moments of the whole trip, was having dinner at the Be Our Guest Restaurant in Belle's ballroom. It was as if we had stepped into the movie. Disney absolutely out-did themselves in creating that experience. I timed our reservations just right so we would be able to watch the fireworks while waiting to be called for our table. After dinner, the park was closed and we practically had the entire place to ourselves as we floated on fairy dust to the exit. Wednesday, January 22, 2014 Jen and I purchased a package through Dreams Unlimited which included transpiration from Mears and dual-park tickets. It was a good value, and easy to make our transportation reservations. We took time the night before to be sorted into our Hogwarts houses; Jen was sorted into Ravenclaw and I was placed in Slytherin. Our Potter souvenirs included chocolate frogs and scarves with our house emblems. We really needed the scarves in any case - it was very cold throughout the day. Breakfast - Hotel Commons Islands of Adventure The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Dragon Challenge (twice!) Forbidden Journey Flight of the Hippogriff Butterbeer (the best!) Lunch - Captain America Diner The Incredible Hulk Coaster Universal Studios Betty Boop - character greeting Blu... read more

Tuesday, January 21, 2014 Today we experienced the amazingly fun Hollywood Studios. It reminded me a lot of the re-imagined Disneyland California Adventure. We never waited in line for Star Tours, but found Toy Story, Tower of Terror and the Rockin Rollercoaster consistently had 60-90 minute wait times. Rides and Experiences: Character greetings: Goofy, Chip and Dale Toy Story Mania (fastpass) Star Tours The Great Movie Ride Tower of Terror (fastpass) Lunch - Fairfax Fare (didnt like it) Voyage of the Little Mermaid show Star Tours Character greeting: Mr. Incredible and Frozone Muppet Vision 3D Snack - Writer's Corner (liked this spot) Lights, Motors, Action! show Animation Academy Fantasmic Dinner - Hotel ... read more

The highlight of the day was our Princess Luncheon. We found Epcot requires the stamina for a lot of walking, but frequent breaks allows for lots of people watching too. Another important note, adults should take the easy option for Mission Space. Though neither of us were sick, our guts were a little shaken by taking the significant g-forces of the extreme version of the ride. Rides and Experiences: ... read more
