I don't know if this the correct term for it, but I found out that Florida has a monsoon season. Yesterday we planned to go to Cocoa Beach, a very popular beach about 20 minutes driving from here, but we never went because the rain kept pouring from the sky like there was no end to it. Nevertheless it stays really warm here, so all the longsleeve shirts can stay in my suitcase. Instead of going to Cocoa Beach we went to three different petstores. Sea World Orlando, FL As a semi-spontaneous decision, I took off work last Friday and spent my day off marveling at killer whales, dolphins, sharks, sea lions, and of course my amazing husband at Sea World in Orlando! Anxious to be on the road for Florida. Tried to do the new "Trips" feature to separate this out, but wasn't successful -- so if there are any new readers -- you can just wander on into my past year as well. I pick up DGS tomorrow to begin the drive to Lake Buena Vista (aka Orlando). It's a two-day trip for me, altho most people just take one day from here. It's official now: I've set foot on land that my parents have never touched. As a child I thought it was impossible, but here I am in the United States of America. Hooray! I'm staying with Dave's sister and her family in a place called Viera. It's about an hour driving from Orlando where all Disney wonders happen. It's a beautiful house in something called a 'planned' community. It's straight from the show 'Desperate Housewives' on Wisterialane. Strange enough there is hardly anyone doing things outside. Day 1 - 1 bedroom unit Pouring rain. Lightning. Not a great backdrop for a first impression. Having said that, the Parc Soleil is simply not ready for prime time yet. It will be, I am sure, a beautiful addition to the HGV Club family oriented resorts. But at this time, there is still so much unfinished. The children's area is non-existent. It's not built yet. Each day, there is a part time "borrowing" of staff from the 2 other established HGV resorts in the Orlando area. More on this after we experience it. Various licenses have yet to be granted. May 10th - May 18th in Florida. What an odd feeling after a year+ to be back in this house i lived in. It's like a living timecapsule. After the weirdness of it, it was a great time at Amigo's, Ross, and movies with Toria, Bull & Bush and darts with Sean, and Winter Park golfing with dad. This is just a little introduction because I am excited to start it, and I wanted to send out the links to this page and wanted to give a little bit of a preview, or something. I fly to London on Monday, the 25 of May. Some friends and I will spend a few days in London until May 31 when we take the Chunnel to Paris, France. Day 17 Started off sunny this morning :O), so took full advantage of it and jumped in the pool :O), Lunch time we went out to Poinciana where we stopped for something to eat. The heavens opened in a big way, like when don't they lately.....lol The alarm went off in there, which we asked what that was for and they said tornado warning............WHAT!!, apparently Osceola had a small tornado which wasn't that far away.
