The old chickens weren't laying so well, so today Joan and I went up to the chicken farm for some of their rejects. The old girls have been well looked after and are safe in a "retirement" pen! The new ones are settling in well, and hopefully there'll be eggs again. (I have to say that the cold wind may have had something to do with the egglessness.)... read more

the time went too quickly, it seemed no sooner had I met them at the station than we were back there saying goodbye. But we had a lovely day in warm sunshine yesterday, and did a bit of history, looking at the aqueduct and an iron age hill fort. As well as sampling the delights of Oswestry on the way.... read more

It was a glorious day today, so despite a late start, we decided to go to the seaside. And so glad we did. The sun shone and we had the beach almost to ourselves. This trip was a birthday present from last year. We had a boat for 10 people for a day. It was great fun, if rather daunting at the start, due to the fact that the first task was to steer across an aqueduct 216 feet in the air. You can see the terror in my face. However, we took it ij turns and most of us got the knack of it, with only minimal damage to the canal banks!... read more
