Railroading Europe » United Kingdom » Wales » Welshpool
Sophie is home - for one day only - as its their Dad's 60th birthday this weekend. We popped down to Welshpool for a takeaway curry, which we took to Meifod. Delicious and far too much. Then we all settled down to a jolly game of railroader, a game from my childhood which we discovered in the loft when we put the new insulation in. I shan't explain the rules, just its in the wild west, and you lay a track and race trains along - avoiding various pitfalls if you're lucky. [View Full Entry]

shopping with Mum Europe » United Kingdom » Wales » Welshpool
Alex and I took Mum on a shopping trip today, to spend all her money! We got the wheelchair into several shops, and she had a good look round. We were so long in town, we should have had lunch, not coffee! And we bought so much that we rewlly needed Sherpas to help carry it all. [View Full Entry]

toll bridge, but we stayed on this side to start with.
We walked along the disused railway line today, down the estuary to Barmouth, a glorious walk of 7 miles. We started at a toll bridge near Dolgellau, walked along the southern side of the river to the mouth, where there's a railway bridge (with footpath included) over the river into town. There we feasted ourselves on fish and chips on the prom, before catching a bus back along the other side of the river. Just had to walk across the toll bridge, and there we were. A lovely day. Dog didn't like it much, too many aeroplanes whizzing about, so her [View Full Entry]

glorious autumn Europe » United Kingdom » Wales » Welshpool
This afternoon Alex and I took an hour off gardening to go for a walk beside the river. The autumn colours are wonderful. This week, its all blue skies and sun, but with frost several nights. On Monday morning I had to scrape the car before I could see to drive to work. [View Full Entry]

Kate and I met in the small village of Selattyn, about half way between our homes, for a walk up to Selattyn tower and along Offa's dyke. It was a lovely day, and we went off for lunch afterwards to a garden centre, where I bought some bulbs and some luttuce plants, which I planted as soon as I got back home. A good day. on the cliff at St Agnes head
we chose the hottest week of the summer to spend a few days by the sea in cornwall. It was lovely. We went with friends and stayed in a caravan in the sand dunes. The weather was so good that we did little except amble about and swim in the sea. The coast is lovely there, cliffs and sand. Years ago, it was a tin mining centre, so there are many old chimneys on the cliffs. [View Full Entry]

even though its nearly dark.
After they'd been shut in a few days, I let them out an hour before dusk. They weren't a bit nervous, and bustled about, scratching the ground and looking dead busy. One is named "Explorer" as she finds her way all over the place .......and luckily home again too. Another is Droopy, as she has a droopy wing. Since the first evening they've been out all the time, and they range pretty freely. Though I think there'll be a fence once they find my veg patch! Luckily we don't have insulation handy for them to get at Uncle George. [View Full Entry]

well Sue, you asked what it was called! Bet you can't pronounce it! Its half an hours drive from here, and yesterday a neighbour called to see if we fancied going for a walk with the dogs there. And we did, and Alex took his camera! [View Full Entry]
