The camp site on the field is growing. Ineke bought her bell tent last summer (and I wanted one as soon as I saw it) so she has her tent up, and Alex has his too. Last night we sat out watching shooting stars and satellites whilst supping wine, followed by cocoa. Then this morning, Ineke decorated my tent before cooking breakfast. Quickly followed by birthday cake and several visitors so that I didn't get dressed till lunch time. And I was sooooo hot in those jamas. Then Alex came home from work and produced a delicious lunch, I opened my presents and bnow its nearly time to go out with Mum and Dad for tea! What a life!... read more

I treated myself to this splendid new bell tent. its big enough to stand up in, and roomy enough for a chair or two as well. So i can go camping without having to wriggle myself into a tent, and can sit and read in comfort. Just wait for a nice sunny week then.... read more

Well, Alex had a birthday and we went and bought a rather natty new kayak, looks a bit like an orange banana. Lucky he had a roof rack for Christmas! Took it for a test drive along the canal. Then, Dad took his helicopter ride yesterday - he had the voucher for his birthday - so there's a picture of that too.... read more

Lynda and I went to Liverpool on Friday for a day out. We had a look round the new docks, the Chinese quarter and then the cathedrals. We really went to take her grand daughter to the biggest Primark in the world, as she had birthday money to spend. Needless to say, we neither set foot in Primark nor Mcdonalds.... read more

Just in case - like me - you aren't on Facebook, here are some pics of teh big day. It was perfect! And thanks to evryone who sent good wishes to us, much appreciated. We planned to walk to the church, but heavy showers meant a car was the sensible option. After the service, we were bussed down to the little railway station, where we had champagne and canapes before boarding the train for Welshpool. Then dinner in the Royal Oak, followed by a Ceilidh. Some younger than me stayed up till 3.30, playing the piano and singing, but I got a taxi home. And drove back for breakfast next day, to say goodbye to everyone!... read more

The Olympic torch is making its way round Britain and got to us today. Linda and I made a morning of it, by leaving the car and walking along the canal to Llanymynech, which is right on the England/Wales border (in fact, it splits both the pub and the golf course in half), joining a small crowd for half an hour to see the torch. Then a cup of coffee and a gentle stroll back tio the car. So we did it, with no fuss! It was actually OK too.... read more

Yesterday evening we met Kate and John for a walk at the racecourse. Bluebells eveywhere! Still very warm despite going later- maybe Ros and Rick brought the Aussie weather with them, its certainly been like summer since they got here. finished at the pub for fish and chips. And yes, lots of eggs laid already, probably the shock of being free. AND the lone ranger has only escaped once so far!... read more
