There's not a lot to write about Christmas! Great time with family, despite fighting off another cold! Decided to break out a bottle of champagne over Christmas to celebrate... the fireplace decided to go mad about the same time - and it took a while to discover the smoky log in the wood basket... just great! Healthy Boxing Day too...... read more

Had a fantastic xmas break and am now back at work. The office was closed from 16 December to 2 January - but it seems like much longer cause so much has happened! Xmas Day was spent at my parents house with Claire my sister, my great aunty Mary, my parents, my mums good friend Mary and her mother Hazel. It was a very relaxed day with big lunch and prezzies! Boxing day was spent at my Grandparents house in Morden (near Wimbledon). I went over in Claire’s car and my parents and Aunty Mary went together. We got there first after a nice drive and chat. Lots of polite conversation, more food, I made the grandparents flat pack and then more conversation. I spent the next morning with Suzanne(from work) at Lakeside shopping (yes ... read more

Ok I admit it, I couldn't go a whole Christmas without popping back to Blighty at some point, and I thought it a must that I attend that quintessential Western tradition that is the office party/piss up/dance show (Bollywood no exception eh Clare!)/gossip mongers favourite time of the year. outside the box kindly wecomed me back into the fold to attend their Christmas bash and although I can't remember much (it's almost like I was there in body but not in spirit)I'm told I stayed looking remarkable fresh all night and had the attention of many a drunken man. As you can see, since I've been in Korea I've become even more of a midget and the food obviously isn't nutritious enough as I appear to have become more slender than I could have ever imagined...in ... read more

Have I mentioned that layovers in the British Air First class lounge don't suck??? Here we are...we've got six hours to kill with all the food, drink, showers and massages we can handle.... all gratis! But of course.. they do charge for wi-fi service - 6pounds per hour.. go figure. Therefore - we'll keep this one short and sweet..... The flight from PHX to Heathrow was pretty uneventful. The only excitement we had was realizing upon check-in that BA only allows 1 carry-on bag on flights that connect in the UK - so the scramble to consolidate bags at the check-in counter was pretty interesting. I promised myself I'd pack light on this trip..yet my carryon felt like I was toting a family of 5....crazy heavy. I think Jay was in the same boat.. but he's ... read more

Well, first off, I need to catch ya'll up on last night. After I finally got a shower last night I felt like a new man and decided that I wasn't quite ready for bed yet. Mom had had enough and was already in bed. About 9:30 I headed out to wander around a little bit. I started making circles around the hotel and found myself at The Arthur pub. The building dates back to 1845 (which is really young considering the age of everything else around) when it was a workshop. Upstairs is a supposedly renowned restaurant and on the first floor is the pub containing the original bar and hand cut victorian windows. I had a pint of Carling and squeezed myself in by the fireplace. Not long after I was joined by a ... read more

Hello.... Tis cold, tis cold, tis so very cold in the UK... Just been having a very mellow xmas with family in Seaford, most pleasant... Lots of time relaxing in front of the utopian fire and all that seasonal jazz.... Very nice to catch up with family, some old mates and my dog..... Not that many seasonal arguments for once, instead more heated political chats etc that normally ended up on the topic of immigration (me thinks my family is becoming slight right of centre in terms of it's political stance...) It has been a while since my last Jordan 'blog' - has been quite a manic few weeks since then. Have had 733 reports to write (I kid thee not) and the inaugural KES Talent Show has happened. It was actually quite a success in ... read more

On this trip I am travelling with my parents (John and Adele), which is different. I'm used to, well, travelling alone and not having to think about working with others. But I like travelling with them better. We made our way from St. Louis through Raleigh (NC) and then on to London. The flight from Raleigh to London was only about 6.5 hours. We landed at 6:30 AM, went through customs, and then picked up a rental car. Of course, they drive on the left hand side of the road here and the driver's side is on the right side of the car. That, combined with the roundabouts, small roads, and the way Brits drive (not bad compared to most countries, but different) made for an adventurous 2.5 hour search for the hotel. London is what ... read more

Well here I am in sunny England. No not really sunny, but certainly not cold as I was led to believe. I arrived yesterday at Heathrow airport. We touched down at 11.22am and I was on the train by 12.36. I am not adding photos at this stage as a) I only have a couple and b) I am not sure how I will do it on this machine I am using. Will probably try when I am at Erina's or at Geoff's. I left Auckland at 6.00pm on 26 December on board Emirate's flight EK433. The seats in economy are only a little bigger than what we are used to on Air New Zealand, flying to Sydney and places like that. There was a bit more room but not a lot of extra leg room. ... read more

Well, after 15hrs and 3944 miles of flying, 3 trains, and a taxi ride we finally made it to our hotel. lol I have never been so happy to arrive at a destination. We ended having to take an extra train because "someone" thought that they were on the right one.... we won't discuss that right now though. The hotel is the cat's meow. We did have to ask for a room with two beds though. One double bed is just not enough, so now we have two twin beds. So far mom is surviving the trip but I think that she will either arrive home sore and beat up or just sick. It is definately colder here than I expected. After we arrived at the hotel and unpacked all of our stuff we hit the ... read more
