Hello! This is sadly my final blog! I arrived home on Friday after a grueling 27 hours travelling with stop overs, 3 flights and a few delays! I have to admit that when we finally tocuhed down at Gatwick it was a mixture of regret, relief but mostly excitement. Regret because understandably i would give anything to be back out there and be living the 'no worries' life style that we had become so acustom to! Relief not only because the 27 travelling episode was over but also the realisation that it would finally be time to settle down again and being back home also meant we didn't have to live out of a backpack anymore! It also meant a well needed detox and a chance to regain a grip of my finances and stop spending ... read more

For those of you who don't already know.... Having been there for six years, I haved waved good bye to work! I am now officially a "Lady of Leisure" and will continue to be until we depart on June 30th. At which time my title will change to "Intrepid Explorer". You maybe asking "why is she writing in the travel blog, when she is not yet travelling"? My excuse (and I'm sticking to it), is that this three months is an intrinsic part of the whole trip for me and I am going to use the time to visit places and do things that, (until now) I have allowed myself to be distracted from. It is also a rather effective way of keeping in touch with all of you who (unbeknownst to you) I have subscribed ... read more

Today I started to tackle that mountain that is packing. I thought that it wouldn’t be too hard till I saw the amount that I had to squeeze in, needless to say I had to sacrifice my favourite jacket and my dressing gown (I don’t know how I will manage). With a lot of sweat and blood mainly on my behalf I did finally manage to fit every thing in, with may I say a whole compartment of free space for all that rubbish I know I am going to buy. Now is that impressive. Lewis Out ... read more

Hello Welcome to my travel blog This is a blog of my travels through Canada and the US which I am doing for my Gap year. I am also taking part in a Gap Activities Project where I am spending 5 months working as a leader in Camp Elphinstone The camp is just North-West of Vancouver about a half an hour from Port Moody. The first port of call is Calgary which I fly out too on March the 18th; I am then travelling with Chaz a guy who is also going to the camp. We are going to be following the Trans Canadian Highway from Calgary to Banff/Jasper/Lake Louise/Golden/Kamploons/Vancouver and final Victoria. I then start the camp in April till August. I then have about 3 weeks to travel before my uni starts which I ... read more

Geo: 51.2408, -0.170086This morning I asked Val if she could drive me into town. I was in pain when I put my shoes on. I made a big mistake by not breaking in my hiking shoes before this trip. The blister was huge and the skin had come off. She said yes. I have found the place to go to buy summer shoes- Clarks. So many nice pairs of shoes. Here I found a pair of brown slip on shoes to wear so that I won't be housebound for the next week waiting for it to heal. Back at home, I read my guide book and made sightseeing plans for the day after tomorrow.... read more

Geo: 51.2408, -0.170086Yes, everyone was right it will be cold in the UK and it certainly is. It's mid morning and only 2 degrees outside. I am sitting here looking out the window in between using the computer. Outside it has been snowing for three hours and it looks beautiful. Just as well that the weather isn't great, because I have a big blister on my heel and couldn't go out if I wanted to until it heals. I tried to take photos, but the snow didn't show up too well. I am staying in today and watching TV. I saw the milkman delivering milk this morning. He leaves the glass milk bottles on ... read more

Geo: 51.2408, -0.170086I braved the cold this afternoon and walked into the town of Redhill. Ten minutes later with a frozen nose and lips I was in the shopping centre, where it is nice and warm. I needed/wanted some shoes, so I browsed the shoe shops. I ended up getting a pair of suede-like boots, as I paid for them the sales assistants warned me that she doesn't recommend them to be worn outside - well what good are they then! I still bought them from the department store called Marks and Spencer. I also saw some clothes here that I like, so I will have to return. I enjoyed shopping today, as I haven't been shopping for months due to saving money for this overseas adventure.... read more

Geo: 51.2408, -0.170086Finally, after a long flight we are flying over London, the flight is early so we had to float about in the sky for 20 minutes! It is 6.30am and it is pitch black outside. When we did land at Heathrow, it was a bit bumpy and I wasn't impressed. I breezed through customs with my Italian passport, got a trolley to pile my luggage onto and headed out looking for Val, who I am staying with. Val is my Auntie Jacqui's cousin. I will stay with her and her family for a little while. They live in Redhill, Greater London. I looked and looked around for her, I hadn't met her ... read more
