Hmmm. Just found my rucksack after a long search and after sending my Dad up into his loft searching for it. Not off to a great start! Just spent a torrid 2 hours ironing although in the heat and dirt of Beijing I think this will have been wasted! Got my Mandarin phrasebook this morning so I'm good to go. China- bring it on! ... read more

Hi everyone, Last month I left my job and decided I needed to see something of the world before I get too old! I've always wanted to visit South America but wasn't really sure how best to use the ten weeks I have available. After spending a lot of time trawling through travel guides and web sites and generally being indecisive I finally came up with a vague plan of where I'm going to go. I'm leaving the last few weeks fairly open - I prefer it to be that way in case I get recommendations from people I meet and decide to change my plans. So my loose itinerary is this: *Fri 26th May - 2 weeks in Ecuador. Leave Manchester headed for Quito, Ecuador. Here I will spend 2 weeks taking an intensive one ... read more

Heya all.. Just thought i would post a lil update.. Things are going a lot better here now, starting to get into a normal lifestyle pattern and all the rest.. I had my first week at work this week, and it was great, we are only training at the moment, but its been fun. Most importantly is, i think i have managed to understand their accent now.. lol there are soooo many different accents here, theres people who are born and rainsed Manchester and they say "in'it" or "yeah" at the end of every sentence.. then there are the York people who have a funny accent, the liverpoolians or scousies that have thick accents.. Scottish have the coolest accent, they say "wee" for little.. its really funny.. The weather has been really crappy.. its funny cos ... read more

I have set this up quite early as i don't go for another 5 months but i like to be organised and thought it would be a good idea to make sure there are no problems before hand. I am working full time and i am also at university at the moment but the countdown has now started. I still have several things to sort out such as visas and travel insurance but i am slowly getting there. My itinerary is: Japan - China - Cambodia - Vietnam - Laos - Thailand - Malaysia - Singapore - Borneo - Australia - Tasmania - New Zealand - Fiji - Ragotonga - Tahiti - USA - Bermuda ... read more

Thats right you read right.. today I got ma self a jobbie.. We have moved back to Manchester from Scotland.. Scotland was all around GORGEOUS! buuuutttt we all thought we should move back to Manchester, more opportunity for all of us, also more centralised for us to travel around Europe. This week has been interesting all round, alot of trials, but with alot of faith was also the blessings.. We had a very interesting time trying to get back from Edinburgh to Manchester.. but wont waste time getting into that.. all I can say is that i am grateful to be in a nice warm hostel, compared to the dodgy one we were in back in Edinburgh, and also so grateful to have got this job.. ohhh what job is it you ask? lol sorry better ... read more

Using my almost god-like train riding abilities I scored a free train ride to Manchester from Liverpool. Rule #1 of train travel, if they dont ask, dont fill out your Brit Rail pass :-) Not really too much to say, just putting up some pics for y'all... read more

It's all started actually happening! I've booked my placement with Real Gap. 8 weeks, October 16th till December 11th. So, plan as it currently stands (recorded for prosperity so that I can see how much I change) is: Fly LHR-Delhi October 15th, arrive 16th for placement. 11th December, back in Delhi after placement. Then - 10 weeks travelling, including christmas with Sam and Jen. That takes me up to 19th Feb. Then - 6 weeks in Nepal and Tibet, approx 1 week Kathmandu, 2 weeks Tibet, 2 weeks trekking (probably Annapurna), 1 week kathmandu valley, maybe elsewhere. Then back to Delhi, fly home around 10th April. Only trouble with this whole plan is the weather....it'll be damn cold in Tibet and trekking in Nepal. So I might spend an extra week or two in India, so ... read more
