MY final full day in Vancouver was fitting as it was pouring rain.. just how i left it many moons ago, Friday morning I rolled over and realized that TODAY is the day.. Thanks to my lovely host Dave I was able to sleep in (thank you thank you thank you) repack my bag for the last time and headed to the bus depot to leave my bag for the day while I wandered trying to find a way to waste my last day without spending any money. I got about half way there when I started breaking out into a sweat., Why am I sweating while mearly walking briskly pulling a bag?? Because the bottom of the bag is HOOPED... it was making a horrible noise and I was just short of draggin the damn ... read more

The countdown is really in full swing now. We only have 8 days left left to get up and go to the office. Then we don't have to do any work until 2007. This sounds too good to be true! Thanks to those of you who have posted any comments via the blog. There's no facility for us to 'reply', so it's still best to email us if you would like to keep in contact. The emails are: 'lucyswd@yahoo.com' and 'jonbeaumont@hotmail.com'. We'll really miss you all when we leave. But I'm sure we'll get over it fairly quickly......... read more

Hello from Manchester! Well let me firstly apologize for not updating this blog for such a long time! We have had a hectic month or so settling in, but are now up and running and going along fine in Manchester. We have found accomodation in the form of a share house with two polish couples, living about 4 miles from the city in an area called Crumpsall. It's a very ethnically diverseplace, with people from all corners of the world. Theres a Jewish college, a synagogue (i think thats how you spell it) and a budhist temple, mixed in with the many small food shops catering for Indian and Pakistani customers. And of course it's a very compact enivronment - the houses are butted right up together wall to wall, which means every night we are ... read more

Tues 27th June - The bus to London wasn’t the most comfortable as the heater was pumping out next to me. Brett and I hung out at the bus stop while I waited for my bus to Manchester. The bus was only 8 pounds and I when arrived 4 ½ hours later it was so nice to see a familiar face - Jo. Jo’s mum Janet and sister Lyndsey were there also. Back and Jo and Jon’s I had the yummiest chicken sandwich ever and the best shower and went to bed. It took me a while to sleep as I was still trying to take everything in. I was finally in Manchester catching up with friends I hadn’t seen in over 2 years. Everything is good. 28th June Wed - Jo cooked me a traditional ... read more

The first weekend in May (6th and 7th) I went up to Buxton to visit some family I have up there. They have a farm and live in the old farm house that was built in 1675. It's an amazing house. I had a fantastic time. It was so lovely to be in a family environment again. We had a big dinner on Saturday night then spent the night playing cards, telling stories and having arguments about religion and politics. One of the highlights of the trip was when Alex took me out to check the sheep before dinner on Saturday night. He made it his mission to throw me off the back of the 4WD bike. I haven't screamed so much in ages. He where going over jumps and dropping of cliffs. I needed a ... read more
