With possible plans to carry out wine tasting in Australia, I thought I'd better learn some basics before I went into some Vineyards! I'd, of course, already had great educational value at the wine tasting in Les Arcs, but there looked to be some great opportunities in Manchester, which also gave an opportunity to spend the evening with friends! We tried for Harvey Nichols, but it was full, Evuna was too late, and then Emma mentioned Room's wine club. £30 for food and 6 tastes of wine didn't seem bad, so Emma, Jonny & myself all signed up. Everyone else was too skint (but after we told them our experience are looking to sign up for future events). Hey guys, Well after settling down from a busy month or so, we've had some time to take some pics of our new digs. Its been a good place to live so far, with a clean kitchen and easy going people. Even though there are around 13 of them, we only ever see around 4 or 5 due to the magic of shiftwork. We've got to know a few of the people there now, and have organized a night out at the local pubs, as well as a possible trip to one of the smaller local football games which should be fun. After 19 months working for the University of Manchester, I've taken the opportunity for Voluntary Redundancy, which will allow me some time to work on writing, catching up with people, and - most importantly - travelling. The last day at work was great - having been counting down for the last 24 days (the advent calendar was a great idea Karen, although it confused a few people as I started to open it 24 working days before 21st - appeared a bit premature!) I finished off the last few bits of work, left everything neat, with notes for others to take over, then dashed around saying goodbye, before going for our office dinner at Pacific in Manchester's China Town (v. nice food!). 3 months to go With only three weeks until the wedding and three months until we get our first flight to Japan - we are really getting excited yet understandably a little nervous about everything we have to achieve before we go. The Flights are booked and paid for, most of the kit we need is sat upstairs in our cupboard, and Chrissie has started working out to take her hair and beauty salon around the world.
