It was supposed to be a simple dinner at Pradip's. He and Alec told us to come over to their place for a quick bite so that we didn't have to bother about food the last night. Knowing them, we should have guessed, but we didn't! They organised a party and invited a few friends! We had loads of fun, good food, good people and well ... too much champagne! What a nice way to say goodbye, we enjoyed it so much. Bon voyage they told us! Cheers to all B&R... read more

Hey, just to share a bit of nerves with you all. I cannot stop rearranging the luggage and removing things. I will end up with nothing I guess. Ben has done his bag once and that was it. I am still trying to share the weight of the guidebooks though. Our essentials are Imodium and hand gel, and chocolate. Anyway, since the end of March we have been saying goodbye to our friends and family. We are now looking forward to sharing this experience with you all in here and when we come back. Pity we did not have the camera with us all the time but here are a few of friends we have said good bye to. We update you next from the Bosphorus.... read more

London Robson is home now, he started his sabbatical, so we really are 'on the move'. We are still in London but our trip has already started! All the preparation work makes it so real. We have a check list, there are about 70 items on it. Among the high priorities we find our visa's for China, Mongolia, Russia, Vietnam and Cambodia. Also very important were our vaccinations. And then still some bookings to be done and decide about what to take. It is very exciting really, our trip has started! ... read more

Hello Everyone, I just got off Skype with Amanda Jo and started to think about what I have scene so far in the past 3 months. Some of the things I have seen have been repeats, but I think they are still worth mentioning. You see, sometimes I get a little depressed because I work 45 hours a week, and when I finally get a weekend where I can go do something, I tend to want to relax. So let's take stock of what I have done or seen so far. England Westminster Abbey Tower of London Saint Paul's Cathedral Museum of London British Museum "The Boat Race' (Cambridge vs. Oxford crew race on the Thames) Wembley Stadium (England vs. USA Friendly) Hampton Court Dorset Borough Market Spitlefields Market '31 steps' 'Wicked' 'Lord of the Rings' ... read more

So this will be the first & only entry until I leave...3 weeks from yesterday I will be flying out to Lusaka, before heading to Katete. At the moment, I am carrying out last minute preparations. Most of the big stuff is taken care of; but there always seems to be something else to tick off the list! Saying goodbye to people is the worst bit; had my first goodbye last night, which will no doubt become more frequent & emotional as the weeks pass. ... read more

8 days to go!!! So it looks like we're actually doing this. After talking about travelling for so long, its scary now that it's actually happening. Tomorrow is our last day at work and so is really the first milestone in setting off. We've then got a week to pack (I think I'm going to need a few practice sessions before I manage to get everything I need in my backpack) and then we're off. Next time we'll be writing will probably be when we're abroad!!! who knows what weird and wonderful things we're going to experience and write about...can't wait! Adios amigos. Amy x ... read more

Soon after watching Arsenals dazzling displays I was offered tickets by my mate Pecky to watch England v Switzerland. I leapt at the opportunity, well more like said yes and he said ok I'll get you a ticket. I don't leap at opportunities ever since I pulled a muscle. Anyway I was looking forward to the match as it was Fabio Cappello's first game in charge as the new gaffer (pommy slang for coach) and if David Beckham played it would be his 100th international cap. Sadly Cappello thought Beckham was rusty, his golden balls must have taken on a copper-bronze hue. The train on the way to the game was cozy (or bloody packed to the layperson). After filling up on pre match hotdogs and beers we found our seats. Wembley is an impressive stadium ... read more

So, I am relieved to be back at Christians house after a very long day. To sum my day up: freezing rain as walked out of house and door locked behind me, caught bus that proceeded to WRECK (how does that even happen), tube broken, lost in dark in rain, and told off by a bus driver for no reason, missed stop to house, walked 2 miles in dark cold rain. Very very long day, needless to say! Now I am in a warm house, red wine, Christian is cooking something delicious, and Im reading my book.. much better than the rest. The only positives of today were that I got to see the Westminister Abbey (frm inside this time) and the Tate Modern Museum. Very beautiful and funky stuff! I have pictures but cannot put ... read more
