I was waiting in for a text the other day. Joe Hart had received his text to advise he was being left out the England World Cup squad, so surely Gareth Southgate would have been monitoring my form on a Thursday night. The call for Russia would surely come soon. A text duly arrived the following morning. It wasn't the call to Russia, but an offer of a FA Cup Final ticket. Chelsea v Manchester United. A good consolation, I thought. If anyone cares to read my previous blogs, one could easily get the impression that I am obsessed by football. I am not, but possibly used to have a moderate addiction! I made a serious geographical mistake, when I was a but a young boy. FA Cup Final day was almost a ritual. I would ... read more

Before I start this section I have a few disclaimers: first I love England, I don’t know why but I do and visiting there was like my whole bucket list getting scratched off because I love that place. Second: The whole time I was in London I had a lot of beer, like a lot so it’s getting more and more blurry as I try to recount what exactly happened those 8 days. So the next week’s days may be just jammed into like 3 posts due to my bad memory, maybe someday I’ll return to England and it will jolt something but there was a lot of beer that week. The day started well, it was cloudy but no signs of rain and that’s all that matters sometimes. I did a combination of motorways and ... read more

Winston Churchill, our then Prime Minister, spoke in the summer of 1940(when there was a bit of a European, African and Asian barney going on); “And now it has come to us to stand alone in the breach, and face the worst that the tyrant's might and enmity can do. Bearing ourselves humbly before God, but conscious that we serve an unfolding purpose, we are ready to defend our native land against the invasion by which it is threatened. We are fighting by ourselves alone; but we are not fighting for ourselves alone.” Autumn. 1963. Winston could have said the same to the England team that played the Rest of World. But he didn't. He didn't have to. Not even if he was still alive. Because the scoe ended up as "England two Rest of the ... read more

Helloooo again I’m at the YMCA backpackers now, got here on Sunday evening after having dinner with my Aunt and Uncle at a nice Italian restaurant close by. I was knackered though, had been out on Saturday with Jstar. We had a drink or two at his flat then went off to some pub in Camden to meet some of his flatmates. It wasn’t too bad, the music was different to the stuff that gets played in Wellington but it was a pretty good night, I won’t go into too much detail! But basically we stayed there for a bit then went back to the flat and I didn’t go to sleep until 7.20am, had about 4 hours sleep, got up again and there were still people awake haha crazy nocturnal people. Two of them went ... read more

LONDONS CALLING This morning we took the tube into London (around 20 mins) to see if I could get an All Black World Cup jersey at Harrods – hadn’t had any luck elsewhere. True to form Harrods came through 67 Pounds for the official World Cup All Black Jersey which was pretty reasonable I think. We also had a very nice ‘Deli Lunch’ at the Harrods Cafe. Their food area is pretty amazing in terms of the options available. The weather was awful with heavy rain and strong winds (reminded us of home!) hopefully it will clear before the big game tonight WEMBLEY At 5pm the weather was still not great so we caught the 83 bus just down the road from our hotel. Wembley is on the 83 bus route. It was a bit unclear ... read more

It's that time of the week. I am, once again, sitting in Starbucks writing my weekly blog post for you lovely people! So, this week was kind of rough. After spending the week before traveling all over Europe, it was difficult to make myself 'settle down.' Though I will admit that it was very nice and refreshing to be 'home.' Though spring break was amazing, it feels good to have a routine again and have a fixed plan for mostly every day. My internship was fine this past week. I'm having more people come to me with stuff to do, so I appreciate that, but I still haven't figured out my 'project' that I am going to do. Our internship coordinator suggested we try to find something that we can improve in the company to make ... read more

Yes, it is more than a month now since we are back home. Difficult to believe it but time flies by. I don’t know what we were expecting but when coming home we felt like we had been on a long week end trip. The house was still there, everything in place, it is a bit like when you change your clothes, you just put them on and you are ready to go again with the flow! Still the first week or so we were asking ourselves where next? Oh we just stay here... Robson managed to visit most of his friends in a few weeks. I was so brave that I accepted with enthusiasm to accompany him for dinner with Maria and Denise his two Brazilian friends. Here I was having dinner with three Portuguese ... read more

Hey all, so day six was quite different! We decided it would be best to have a bit of a sleep in so we slept till about 830ish - 9am. From there we leisurely got ready and went downstairs for our breakfast. We went over the itinerary and decided what we had left to do and planned how I was getting to Wembley Stadium for the day. Dad was going to hang out around the area and sort of take it easy, while I was leaving for the concert at 12 noon. The gates opened at 4pm but I wanted a good seat! I left for the tube and took the central line East to Bond St Station and from there transfered to the Jubilee Line North to Wembley Park. Upon arriving I wasn't sure ... read more

Geo: 51.5652, -0.265009Who would have thought? Me watching a rugby game! I didn't have any other plans, so when Lize-Marie asked me I said "Sure, why not?"We met at Walthamstow Central train station and made the slow journey to Wembley. The thing I was looking forward to the most was to see the stadium. We were very lucky with the weather- the best part of the day was the sun on my shoulders! The game seemed to go very quickly. I tried to follow along, but quite often got lost. Rugby is still a game I don't understand, seems to be a lot of guys jumping all over each other!... read more
