So the club in Balmers was packed with about 5 people. We managed to have a good night though as we recruited 3 Americans to play ring of fire with our Strong Sexy Stud cards and got suitably drunk. This helped Matt to calm his rage over the hoards of Koreans who he is now intolerant of. They stole his adaptor for gods sake! They were massive plug sluts too, with a thousand adaptors attached to a thousand more adaptors. The next day we both felt really weird. Not hungover, just weird. We did washing and other housewife duties and I got my beloved knife (that I bought yesterday) engraved with the word "Clara" so I will never forget the horrors of torture mountain. I wanted "Clara von skank" but the knife is too small, its ... read more

Before arriving in switzerland, we took an extreme nighttrain from amsterdam - interlaken. We were expecting a harry potter-esque train, but we had these dodgy giant claw like seats all down one of the carriages. It was pretty cool - being drunk also may have helped, and also the guy behind us playing the ukelele. After a few hours of sucessfully enjoying lots of cheap wine, we actually managed to sleep on the nighttrain, which is not what I was expecting. We then had to change as Basel, which is on the swiss german border to board our very photogenic train to Interlaken! First we hung around the centre of the town for hours which was amazing - its so chilled out and relaxing being surrounded by all the mountains, with super clear lakes weaving through ... read more

Day 4 Today we were supposed to be heading to Lucerne but we decided we were enjoying Interlaken too much some stayed an extra night! The plan was to head up another mountain and do some fun activities but we stopped in at a bike hire place before and got told that the lifts up the mountain were closed because of overnight snow. They were running a tour we had wanted to do so we decided to go with them and I am SO glad we did! We did bike tour up to Lauterbrunnan and to see the waterfalls. Not only was it a bike tour, it was an electric bike tour! The bikes have electronic assist which you can adjust depending to how much assistance you want! Now I am no bike rider so I ... read more

Day 1 Another early start and a few train trips later and we had arrived in Interlaken! And it was cold! We stayed in a backpackers villa in the tiniest room ever! Luckily we didn't plan on spending too much time in the room! So we dropped off our gear and headed out. Whilst it was cold, the sky was clear and the sun was out. So we headed up a smaller mountain near our hostel called Harder Kulm. You go up the side of the mountain in a funicular which was pretty cool!! Up the top of the mountain they have a new viewing platform which hangs over the edge of the cliff and there is a glass floor which looks straight down the cliff! I wasn't too keen on standing on that!! The view ... read more

DAY FIR – Friday May 11 Okay so things didn’t exactly go as planned. Actually nothing went as planned. We ordered SIM cards for our phones online but they never got to the hostel. When we called to see what happened they had been “sent” but not received so we had to pick them up which meant we were catching a later train. Long story short we ventured into some suburb in France to get them (took 3 hours) went to the train station and found out that our train was booked solid. So we ended up taking a detour which started with an overnight train to Munich. Day Fumf – Saturday May 12 We shopped for about an hour and took 4 more trains to get to Interlaken Switzerland. This really sucked because we had ... read more

How things change. I have decided not to go back to Argentina, even though I loved it there, I was quite homesick and didn't want to go so far away, so quickly (I'd be out there now) for so long (about a year). I just want to go travelling again, back to Bolivia and up through Central America which is much cheaper to travel though, so hopefully that won't be in the too distant future (sorry nan!). I'd like to do some voluntary teaching whilst away as well so watch this space. So what to do in the interim to get some money together. I headed up to York for a bit but there was no work there at all, registered with 5 agencies and all I could get was 4 hours of being a catering ... read more

DAY 2: I woke up early and opened the balcony door. The snowcapped mountain was reflecting golden rays of sun; the weather was soothing with a slightly chilly breeze; the surrounding of the hotel was a nice blend of brick houses and rolling greenery; lone cars went pass the road at regular intervals but otherwise there was not much activity seen on road. Population density of that area was a minimum- which I appreciated most. After shower and dress up, we went down for the complementary buffet breakfast. Food was simple but fresh and nicely presented. There was orange juice, milk, tea, coffee, boiled eggs, a choice of cereal, and sausages. And of course – fresh bread, butter, jams and cheese as usual. We took leaflets and brochures from the hotel counter and decided our next ... read more

DAY 1: We spent first 3 days of our honeymoon in Rome and Venice- and I loved both cities a lot. But my subconscious (or rather should I say conscious?) mind was eagerly waiting for the day we’ll reach Switzerland- my dreamland for many years. This morning we started our journey from Mestre to Interlaken in Euro Star. The journey was very comfortable-but the credit does not go solely to Euro Star service. Siam (my hubby) and I were sitting opposite each other and stretched our legs up to rest them on the other person’s lap. I was giving him a foot massage and he was giving me one. After 3 days of walking, this felt like a romantic bliss… We had to change trains in Milan-it was a couple of hours halt there. We got ... read more

Today was our relaxing day. We slept until 9:30, Kaitlin cooked an awesome breakfast and we headed out into the city with no plans at all. We decided to walk for a bit and explore the side streets outside of the touristy part.. After a bit of walking we decided to go get our favorite food here .. Donar sandwiches lol yummy.. After that we walked to the park to sit and watch the mountains while eating some fresh gelato.. Although very sore from the day before we decided that we wanted to do the electric tandom bike so we headed over to the rental place and negotiated for 2 hours instead of the standard 4.. Once we figured out how to use it properly we headed out to view the lake.. It was a great ... read more

Today we visited the mountain Jungfraujoch, it is the highest observation point in all of Europe. We had to make sure we woke up early to catch all the trains up the mountains so that we could enjoy the afternoon there. After 3 trains on a very beautiful and scenic journey we finally reached the top and realized that it is even more beautiful up here.. Just as we got there our camera battery died so we had to find somewhere to pretend to want some food so that we could charge the camera to show off this trip.. After that we decided to just walk up on a hill and sit together for a bit and enjoy the picturesque views that look so unreal they should be in a book or in a painting.. You ... read more
