The temptation of breakfast was great enough that I actually got up for it despite feeling seriously sleep deprived. We didn't really have plans for the day, so when breakfast was finished we returned to our room after putting on a wash. We both slept for a while however it was Rob who had to drag me out of bed to ensure that we actually did something in the day. When we both were ready we walked over to the other side of the water and found ourselves caught up in a mass of tourists perusing the markets. We had a quick look around but unsurprisingly the stalls hadn't changed since we had previously looked around. We found the funicular but we decided against it; partly because you had to pay and partly because we had ... read more

Today we got up early so that we could get to lake Bled and get back in time for the ice hockey match we had bought tickets for. After enjoying another buffet breakfast we made our way to the bus station, although we were unsure as to where it was. I had seen that it was in front of the train station from the map but had no idea where to buy tickets; we went into the train station, I went to the ticket desk and Steph to the information and we both found out that it was the kiosk type thing outside. Joining up again we bought our tickets and also some bread and water for our budget picnic. Once in Bled we walked down to the lake and although the mist partially hid the ... read more

We had been fore-warned that there was some work being done at Park Hotel thay may cause a little disturbance from 9-5. We had set our alarm for nine so that we could waken \ without the sound of drilling. Around twenty past eight we were woken by the sound of hammering; we ignored it and continued to lay in bed until the incessant drilling began just before nine. We couldn't stand the loudness of it and reluctantly got up and went for breakfast. Surprisingly breakfast was completely worth getting up for. There was cereal, bread, spreads, cheese, meats, cooked stuffs, juices and hot Chocolate etc. We thoroughly enjoyed it and Rob had a field day with it being unlimited. Somehow we have managed to get a broken piece of the stylus stuck in the pda ... read more

We woke up early however there wasn't a cat in hells chance we were getting through the bathroom so I jumped into Rob's bed to wait. We lay there for about an hour whilst the rude German men, completely oblivious to anyone else took their time showering etc. Eventually there were only a few lingerers so I "politely" explained that I couldn't get dressed with them all hanging around. We dressed quickly but still had to ask to get a chance to go to the bathroom with each German presuming it was their birth right to go in the bathroom first and to take their sweet time about it. Once downstairs we went on the internet to check if anyone missed us and then set off to the train station. We were very early for the ... read more

wow. well, today i'm feeling what can only be described as fragile. last night was the big giant birthday japes, and suffice to say it was celebrated accordingly. these slovene folk certainly know what they are doing when it comes to partying. rent a cabin type thing in the middle of nowhere, get more alcohol than all the pubs in welshpool could muster, and go. and by go, i mean GO. so yes, it was a brilliant night, met some more wonderful people, although my recollection of them is pretty misty. still, ace. it was great that despite the fact i'm a long long way from home, i still managed to end up doing the same thing that i do at most parties, which is going out to a car with a couple of others to ... read more

reeeeeeeesting! my legs are falling off, i swear. see, i cant remember my legs being this tired in summer, despite that being a month of walking around. i suppose i wasnt waking up at 7am every day then, but still. whats happened to me?! i'm so unfit, it's ridiculous. ah well, boo hoo hoo. it's still been a fantastic time. token recap. after leaving this on an incredible cliffhanger yesterday as i thought i was in a rush, it turned out that my train to koper was 30minutes late, so with hindsight i could have sat around and provided the thrilling ending that the entry deserved, but no, i decided to sit on the platform like a giant lemon. train arrived, and away we went. i do enjoy staring out the window, it's nice. although i've ... read more

first of all, thank you very much to everyone who deemed me loved enough to waste 40p by texting me happy birthday, very much appreciated. thank you to everyone who emailed, facebooked, myspaced, yadda yadda too, lovely stuff. i had a brilliant day, and was considerably happier than all of you (fast show moment there), so woo, great stuff. i've gotta go back to monday night! gah! anyway, monday night, went for a quiet drink with sonja and jerneja, which was great. jerneja is sonja's friend that i met in summer, and she is great, so it was ace to see her again and have some sort of catch up, although the conversation got a little strange. i'm not gonna explain that, i'll just leave it out there. it involved sheep, i say no more. woke ... read more

aaaaaaaaaace. it's bloody cold in this wonderful place. jerry is currently on an inversion table, and it looks pretty entertaining to be fair. anyway, token recap of the last 24 hours. getting to stansted was a pain, and it cost me a stupid amount of money, resulting in me then worrying about saving money for when i get back, which is pretty lame, as i dont want to worry about that whilst i'm here, as it's my week of no worrying. but yes, got to stansted, waited around for aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages, and then got my booty on a plane. i love flying. i've said it about 793 times, but flying, especially over cities at night, is my favourite thing to do. we had a bit of turbulence, which i quite liked strangely enough. it's a strange sensation, ... read more

This is our adopted name because we couldn't figure out how to say it until we got there. When we did get there we went straight to jail, literally. Not for being unable to pronounce the name of the city but our hostel had once been the city jail! We stayed in cell number 13 oooo! It was funky. This short short stay soon gained a focus when Adam found out that the Freemasons were DJing that night! What we didn't know was where! So we took a bus and hoped for the best! We followed everyone else, all chavtastic, who didn't get in because we think you have to be 21 here. So while they got cold outside on the industrial estate we got cold on the inside! The Freemasons were awesome and Becs even ... read more

20th -22nd October............... Ljubljana with a population of 269,000 was the city that inspired me the most as to what Adelaide could be like that would draw tourists to experience an alternative relaxed lifestyle. What is needed however is inspired leadership on a Adelaide Local Government and State level. Ljubljana is in a lovely setting with a backdrop of alpine mountains, a castle that overlooks the old city that curves around each side of the river. But it is its artistic vibrancy and creative community that makes it more than just another pretty city. I headed to the Celicia Hostel which ‘Lonely Planet’ lists as the world’s hippest hostel. The hostel in its past was a prison and has now been remodeled with each cell being designed by a different architect. They were given the brief ... read more
