We actually were in Delhi 4 different times but I decided to write about it all at once. the first 3 times were for less than 24 hours, so we did the most at the end of our trip when we stayed there for 3 days. Everytime we stayed at Grand Hotel Godwin. Daddy loved it that he could leave stuff there everytime we left. Delhi had lots of great sites. Short 1 hour flight and we landed in Udaipur, known as India's most romantic city (which didn't really matter since I am only 3 and travelling with my dad). We stayed at a beautiful hotel, Jaiwana Haveli, which was right on Lake pichola and our room over looked the lake. It was great eating breakfast and often dinner on their rooftop restaurant overlooking the lake. We spent a day visiting the city palace and I had fun their pretending I was a princess. After a 6 hour train ride with Dora and Sponge Bob (and Daddy), we arrived at Jodhpur. While Jaipur was the pink city, Jodhpur was the blue city. We stayed a really neat guesthouse called Durag Niwas. The couple who owned it had a boy my age so there was lots of toys and a friend to play with. They also had a little fountain in the courtyard which I turned into a swimming pool/bath. The main attraction of Jodhpur was the HUGE Meherangarh fort. It was incredible. After a great 8 nights in Nepal it was back to India to visit other parts of Rajasthan. Our first stop was Jaipur also known as the "pink city", my favorite color. We stayed at Arya Niwas, which was a short cycle rickshaw away from the old part of town. It was here that I became obsessed with bracelets, and had daddy buy me a bunch. At one place, a person made them just for me. My highlight of Jaipur was going to Chokhi Dani which was a really interesting restaurant/theme park. It was time for a new country and we took a short flight to Kathmandu Nepal. We stayed 8 nights at the Kathmandu Guest House ideally located right in the middle of Thamel. Thamel is the main tourist area with lots of great restaurants, bars and shops. Our room was centered around a garden area and my favorite buddha statue. Daddy said I was too young to climb Mt Everest, the highest mountain in the world, so instead we took a 1 hour mountain flight to see it. After 1 night back in Delhi, we flew to Varanasi, known as India's holiest city and home to the sacred Ganges river. We stayed at Hotel Surya, which was very nice and had a huge lawn for me to run around. We woke up real early one morning to go on a small boat ride down the Ganges which was a lot of fun. We also went to nearby Saranath, which is where buddha gave his first speech (sermon) way before daddy was born. Dad hired a car/driver to take us from Sawai Modhupar to Agra. With my car seat, portable DVD and AC, the 6 hour drive was very easy and comfortable. We stopped off at Fatehpur Sikri which is very close to Agra. This was emperors Akbars city and the royal palace and Jama Masjid (mosque) were very impressive. It was very hot, but I loved running around this place. I got lots of attention from the locals. Finally time for the big summer trip and this time daddy took me to India and Nepal for 5 weeks. He had never been to these two countries, so it was a first for both of us. After about 30 hours of travel time and dad having to run with me in the backpack at JFK airport to catch the flight (I was laughing while he was sweating), we arrived in Delhi. We arrived in Hartford by bus and met Lenny, Daddy's good buddy from college at the University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB). He was also with Jack, his 1 year old. It was the first time we met Jack. He was a cutie. We then went to Lenny's and met up with Stacy, his wife, and Maddy, their cute 3 year old daughter who I had seen 2 years earlier in Miami. With 4 days off Dad decided to take me to see some good friends of his and their families. It is probably the last trip before the big trip this summer to India and Nepal. After daddy worked, he picked me up from school and we went to the Fort Lauderdale airport. Our plane was late, and we didn't arrive to Boston until after midnight.
