Daddy has been to 73 countries, while I have been to 32, butI will catch up to daddy, as I am only 5 years old!

While daddy didn't start travelling until his 20's, I was born travelling. I might not remember everywhere I have been, but my travels help make me who I am today, and will mold the person I shall become.

Our last day of our 1 month adventure. This was the only day of our entire trip that daddy did not know where we would spend the night. It was a Saturday, and we had to return the car at the airport in Athens by 500am to catch a 730am flight. Daddy did not want to drive from Naoussa and arrive in Athens late just to leave a couple hours later to drive to the airport......so, he decided that after our nice morning with Thimiopoulos, we would drive 4 hours to Delphi to see Ancient Delphi. From here it would be [View Full Entry]

After a couple nights in fairytale- like meteora, we headed even more north, as daddy had heard of a type of wine that interested him - Xinomavro. Whatever. It was a 3 hour drive to the first place we went to called Alpha Estate. We were met by Angelos Iatridis who was the winemaker. Daddy was expecting to get a tour/tasting from the wine maker here. Angelos took us in his car all over the vineyards, showed us around the facilities, and then daddy tasted a bunch of wine while I did some coloring and watched part of a movie. After almost 3 weeks in South Africa seeing 5 World Cup Matches, Kruger Safari, Stellenbosch Wine Festival, Great White Sharks, as well as side trips to the small countires of Lesotho and Swaziland, it was time to make our way back home. "On the way back", we had a 4 night lay over in Greece. We had already stayed in Athens for 2 nights on our way to South Africa, so daddy wanted to somewhere else. While most travellers head for the islands, we headed north. Daddy had read about a place that looked like it was out of a fairy [View Full Entry]

The day had finally come. Daddy had talked about this part of the trip for a long time. He had wished he had done this when he was in South Africa the other 2 times, but did not. There was no way that we were not going to do it on this trip.......the Great White Sharks. At first it seemed pretty scary, especially since he told me that most people on the boat go into a cage and the sharks come right up to it. When daddy called to see if I could go on the boat, not only did they [View Full Entry]

So a break from "wine tasting" and we took an hour train ride to Cape Town for some sight seeing and soccer. Daddy had been here about 12 years ago, but it was my first time. We headed straight for Table Mountain. We got into this really cool thing that rotated around and took us way up to the top of the mountain. It was a lot of fun and I loved looking at the view. When we got to the top is was a little bit windy and cold, but not too bad. We first had hot chocolate as daddy [View Full Entry]

A short flight and we arrived in Cape Town. Daddy decided not to stay in Capetown but instead in Stellenbosch, about 45 minutes away. Daddy is a big fan of wine, and this was one of the most famous places for it in all of South Africa, and our stay just so happened to be at the same time as the Stelenbosch Wine Festival. We were picked up by the owner of the place we were staying...the Stellenbosch Lodge. I was really happy to know that she had 2 young children who were often at the lodge. We were staying here [View Full Entry]

A 5 hour drive found us back in Johannesburg, and back at the Purple Palms Hostel for 4 nights. It was nice to go back to a place where people knew us. This time we got to sleep in the cool cabin in the back yard. Good thing the electric heater worked well, though it was not as cold as it was when we were here the previous week. The night we arrived, USA played Ghana in the Round of 16. Italy, one of the 3 main teams I was rooting for, was already knocked out of the tournament. So, I [View Full Entry]

With no spare tire, we headed for Lesotho. Actually we just drove the 3+ hours to Underberg to catch the Sani Pass day tour to Lesotho. We arrived and shared a 4X4 jeep with a canadian and 3 Portuguese people who were there for the game, but being for Brasil, we did not talk to much about the game. It was an INCREDIBLE drive. It was a crazy windy road with awesome views. The South African boarder is even a 30 minute drive from the true border as there is nowhere closer to put the control point due to the mountain [View Full Entry]

Daddy decided to take the long way to Durban, through a country he had never been to.....Swaziland. Despite spending a total of over 4 months in South Africa on 2 previous trips, he had never been to both Swaziland and Lesotho, 2 small countries bordering or within South Africa, so he decided that we would go on this trip. We did not spend the night in Swaziland, but just spent most of the day driving through it. We stopped off at a place called Piggs Peak which had a great view of the valley below. We also stopped in the Ezulwini [View Full Entry]

After driving through Swaziland, we still had a few hours to go before making it to our destination...Durban. Daddy was a little bummed he was not able to watch the USA v Algeria game and had to settle for listening to it on the radio. Just as he was saying it looks like the USA was going home, the best player, Donovan, scored a goal, with seconds remaining in extra time. Daddy screamed with excitement so I added in. He was very happy. The rest of the trip to Durban was not as happy as it was getting late and all [View Full Entry]
