Well, it was time to go on another trip and this time it was to Northern California to see Amanda, my daddy's sister. She lives in Berkeley. My grandpa Jay even drove from Las Vegas to stay with us. Amanda's name was difficult from me, but by the end of the week, I stopped calling her "hey" and "that one" and came up with something that sounded like Manda. As far as Grandpa Jay, it was much easier for me to say Avo' Jay (Avo' is grandfather in portuguese), so avo' jay it was. We did so many fun things. The [View Full Entry]

Back to Central America, as we left to spend Thanksgiving with Daddy's friend of many years, jen. Though, I like to call her Che. Jen helped dad get his travelling bug as they travelled together for 6 months in Central and South America after they graduated college at UC Santa Barbara. Jen has worked on Roatan for over 10 years. She works for Anthony's Key Resort's Research Institute for Marine Sciences and is responsible for teaching students from different universities from the USA about coral reef ecology. I think she lives in paradise as her house is right on the water. [View Full Entry]

This was the final stop on this trip. We took flight back to Saigon and connected with an overnight flight to Tokyo. We met Daddys friends Gabriel and Yunuen and there 2 children Anika and Sophia. Daddy worked with Gabriel in the clinic in Italy. I had last seen them when I was 4 months old. THat was less than 2 years ago, but I dont remember them. Dad had never seen little Sophia until now as she is only 1 years old. It was very wierd being called "Big" Sofia. I loved playing with the Anika and Sophia. We stayed [View Full Entry]

After 2 weeks in Vietnam we flew from Hanoi to Siem Reap, Cambodia. This place was definitely the highlight of my trip, just as Easter Island was the highlight of last summer's trip. It was another outdoor musuem. We spent 5 full days there seeing almost all the temples in the area and some a few hours away (Beng Mealea and Kol Ker). Except for the 2 far away ones in which we took a car with a very nice driver, Bonthorn, we were taken around by Mr Lee in his Tuk Tuk. We climbed so many temples. My favorite was [View Full Entry]

We went on a 2 day one night cruise in Ha Long Bay. After a few hours on a bus, we arrived. The boat was very nice and we had our own cabin. It was a little difficult for me because there was a lot of room to run, but the boat was not child safe so dad had to keep a very close eye on me. We went swimming on a beach, walking in caves, ate incredible food, and sailed around beautiful limestone islands. We met a lot of cool people as well. It was sooo much fun. [View Full Entry]

Now it was time to check out North Vietnam. Hanoi was my favorite city of the 3. We stayed in the old quarter. It was chaotic, but beautiful with always something to see to grab my attention. Our cyclo driver took us all over the city checking out lakes, pagodas and musuems. I loved cruising around the city in the cyclo. We went out at night and 1 block from our hotel was a corner where they served beer for 12 cents glass. I stuck to the water which was more expensive. I loved sitting outside and playing with the other [View Full Entry]

Our second stop in Vietnam was Hue, which is located near the coast in the middle of Vietnam. Here we stayed at a hotel with a pool and found another cyclo driver for a few days. He was also very nice. After going to the Citadel, daddy asked him to take us wherever he thought would be a good idea, and the cyclo driver took us to this cool kids amusement park where I went on my first rollercoaster. I didnt want to leave. The food in Hue was the best in all of Vietnam. We had a 8 course meal [View Full Entry]

The long awaited trip finally arrived and I was off to Asia, my fifth continent. After 3 flights totalling 20 hours of flying and 6 hours of layovers we arrived in Saigon. It was definitely different than anywhere I have been. I loved going around the city in a cyclo, which is a guy on a bike riding me, my dad and elmo on a chariot like seat in the back. Mr. Kim was our driver for 3 days, I liked him a lot. I saw so many cool things. Museums, palaces and my favorite, pagodas. After seeing so many people [View Full Entry]

After spending the longest period of time of my life without travelling to another country (10 months), dad took me to Costa Rica. It was a fast trip, only for 3 days/2 nights. It started out kinda rough as we were delayed for over 2 hours in the plane in Miami, and arrived too late to catch our connecting flight in Costa Rica. It worked out okay because Dennis (dad's highschool friend) met us at the airport, and we took a 2 hour taxi, then a 1 1/2 hour boat ride, then a short taxi ride and we arrived to [View Full Entry]

Dad took me to one of the most isolated places in the world (Once again, what the heck was he thinking!) It was a 5 hour flight from Santiago, and it is half way between Santiago and Tahiti! It was an outdoor museum and I loved running around the giant statues (Moais). The statues were fascinating and my dad even bought a wooden one that was bigger than me to take home. We hired a taxi driver and took 2 full day tours around the island to the best sights, instead of going on a tour. He even broght his son [View Full Entry]
