Well I hopped off the tour bus here in Coral Bay and it's been such an amazing week! The weather has been PERFECT. The beach is a 5 minute walk from our hostel and you can just walk off the beach and into the water and you are swimming with coral and heaps of fish. So stunning! So, i've been snorkeling and laying on a beach for most of my time here. This is the life!!! I have been working at the hostel as well though to be able to stay here for free. We have to put in 2 hours a day doing the most random of jobs I tell you. The kitchen here gets cleaned 3 times a day! It's spotless, we also sweep the decks, scrub the picnic tables, vacuum the hallways...just little ... read more

We were all up early this morning to grab some breakfast and then get down to the beach to see the dolphins. The crowd of people all had to wait up and off the beach so the dolphins would come in. Around 7:45am the first 5 dolphins appeared in the shallow water of the beach. After letting the dolphins adjust we were all allowed to make our way down to the beach and we had to form a single line on the shore. The dolphins would swim in quite close and you could see them stick one of their eyes up out of the water so they could check us all out. A lady from the resort gave us a talk about the dolphins and how they track them and why they only feed them a ... read more

We were up early to get on the road again. Our view for breakfast though was quite amazing. The beach house had stunning views of the ocean which we couldn't see in the dark last night. Our first stop was a place called Pot Alley. It's named that because it's where a lot of the pots used for catching lobsters get washed up after storms. The place is absolutely gorgeous and we had perfect weather for it. We were really lucky to see some dolphins just off the coast as well swimming around. We then made our went into Kalbarri National park. Our first stop was the Z bend gorge. We had to hike down into the gorge climbing down rocks. So wish I had put shorts on today! It was scorching! Oceania » Australia » Western Australia » Pinnacles July 21st 2011

I hopped on my tour van and we picked the rest of the group up. There are 10 of us in total, so a small group. Everyone is pretty cool. I started off calling everyone by their country instead of their name because I couldn't remember their name and then everyone started doing it haha. So I was obviously Canada, there was Team england, Team germany, Frenchie, Team Taiwan and Japan. We headed north of Perth and our first stop was the Pinnacles. These are rock formations formed thousands of years ago and are all over the dessert near the ocean. To me, they are very phallic looking. We walked around a small area of the pinnacles taking pictures and our tour guide, Ryan told us all about how they were formed. It really is a ... read more

I only have a few days left in Perth before heading up the west coast. It's a bit sad to say bye to Perth. It's a really cool city and just the right size for me. I love it. I met up with Uli and Phil and some of their friends for dinner one night which was really fun. I'm going to miss Phil! Uli is coming on the same tour as me up the west coast. The next day I spent a a big mall just checking things out and talked to a travel agent in regards to South America and got a few brochures on it. I also decided to go and see the last Harry Potter movie in 3D. It was really good! My last day in Perth was rainy and cloudy, something ... read more

Sarah and the girls dropped me off in Kalgoorlie for the train to Southern Cross. Weird feeling heading back to Southern Cross after so long. 7 months to be exact. I arrived in SX at about 9:20am and Paddy was there waiting for me. The main reason I'm coming back to SX is because it's his 30th birthday today. The timing of going to Kambalda and all worked out so I'm able to celebrate with him. He drove me over to Kylie's where I'm going to stay. So good to see her and her little boy Jayden. Got Kylie slowly out of bed and they all got dressed and we headed over to The Club (the other pub in town) which is getting renovated. So, we had to head over to The Palace for lunch. On Saturday we all headed in to Kalgoorlie on our way out to an old mining town where there is an old pub to have some lunch. On the way Sarah hit a bird with her truck and we didn't see it come flying out or anything so we stopped and Jason being the brave guy that he is got out to have a look. I decided to get out too to see what happened. Sarah was a bit scared. The bird was still alive and looking well but managed to get himself on the other side of the grill. The pictures explain it better then I can! Jason nudged it out with a stick and it hopped away happy to still be alive. We had lunch in the old town and then stopped by an ... read more

I spent yesterday shopping a bit and then packing up...again. You would think I'd be a pro at packing by this point but it's always still a struggle to make sure everything fits. But I did it. I booked myself on the train out to Kalgoorlie for the next morning so it was into bed early for me. I hopped on the train at 7am the next day. It was an uneventful train ride until about an hour away from Kalgoorlie when our train stopped and announcements were made that a train ahead of us on the tracks was having engine problems and that we couldn't go anywhere until that train was fixed. We ended up waiting for almost an hour. Luckily I had reception on my phone so I managed to get a hold of ... read more

Had breakfast with the girls this morning who don't fly out until later in the evening. My flight is in the afternoon. After breakfast I sat by the pool finishing my book and relaxing. I said goodbye to the girls, the last time i'll ever see them. Hopped into a cab out to the airport which didn't take as long as I thought it would. After getting checked in and paying my departure tax of 150,000 ruphias (~$15) I went through immigration with no problems. I wandered around looking at all the shops and waited for my gate to be open. While I was sitting on a bench I was approached by a young girl doing a survey on the airport so I answered her questions and got a free pen for doing it haha. My ... read more

We headed over to the spa at 10 am for our appointments. We all decided on the same treatments so we started off getting a one hour head massage. It sounds so much better then it was. Parts of it were really nice but other parts really hurt. And they use an oil to massage with so your hair becomes super greasy! Next up we had a half hour manicure. I picked out a pretty pale blue colour for my nails. Then we finished up with a one hour pedicure. It was very nice and relaxing. I picked out a really pretty bright bluey green colour my toe nails and then my lady painted on a white frangipani flower onto my big toe nails with a toothpick. So talented! We decided to head to a thai ... read more
