So we just finished a 3 day tour throughout the southern part of Bolivia in a place called Uyuni. We had a good group again this time. Two girls from London, one guy from Toronto and another from Wisconsin. We all managed to fit into a Toyota Land Cruiser which is the only type of truck we saw for the whole 3 days. Our guide and his wife said maybe 4 words to us the whole time which had an affect on the tip or lack of a tip. The first day was our day on the salt flats which are [View Full Entry]

Just finished a 5 day trek on the Salkantay Trail and it was sick! We used Llama Path which is an excellent company and I would def recommend them to anyone. Our guide Santiago was also perfect. He really made this trip alot more enjoyable than it would have been with anyother tour guide. We had a group of 7 that consisted of another New Yorker, Canadian, Irish and two Frenchies. The group was great too, we all really got along perfectly. The first day we all had a pretty hard time hiking due to the altitude but managed to make [View Full Entry]

Thats what we hiked down and then up in two days! My brother and I along with 8 others took a 3 day trek into the Colca Canyon and it was amazing! I have never seen mountains, rivers, canyon or anything like it before. Iīll let you just look at the pictures to see for yourselves. The trek itself was really hard and unfortunatly the last hike up the other two from Team America wussed out and took donkeys up. The days were really hot which made it even harder to climb and then the nights were hovering around the freezing [View Full Entry]

Finally made it to Arequipa! It took us 11 hours on an overnight bus which wasnīt as bad as we thought it would be. We arrived around 8 am and took a taxi to out hostel w/ a girl from our last hostel. It seems that everyone we meet is moving in the same direction, we have run into alot of the same people which is quite nice. Anyway we are staying at Hostel Bothy which is nice and has a great view of El Misti and the Chachani Mtns. So the first day we went to see the Monestary de [View Full Entry]

This morning we went to a town called Paracas where they have the Ballestas Islands. The island are only a 25 minute ride from the town and are called the poor mans Galapagos. To be honest I thought it sucked big time! Nothing to do w actually seeing the Galapagos but I just didnīt like it. You pretty much drive around the island for a half hour and see the birds, sea lions and penguins. The penguins were probably the only plus about it bc I didnīt really get to see any in the Galapagos. Anyway tonight we leave for Arequipa [View Full Entry]

We are now in Huacachina which is an oasis town in the middle of these huge sand dunes. The bus from Lima took about 5 hrs so we arrived late afternoon. We checked into a pretty nice hostel call Casa de Arena which has a nice pool w a bar right outside. After we checked in we went on a dune buggy and sand boarding tour. Let me tell you, snowboarding is cake compared to sandboarding. It is so hard to turn and control yourself. That could also be bc you are riding down on a plywood board w velcro [View Full Entry]

Back in S. America but this time w my brother Nick. We arrived in Lima on July 21 but unfortunatly his back didnīt arrive until the following day! We stayed in an area called Barranco at the Barranco Backpackers Inn. Very nice place, clean, great help w getting back his bag. We met a few people from the US, Spain and Canada. Randomly we ran into a kid from Oregon at on of the church/museums and we ended up going Paragliding together. The weather wasnt the clearest but still it was great. [View Full Entry]

Hey everyone. So Iīm just waiting to take a bus to the airport for my flight back to Quito. I have really had an amazing time here! Not only has the wildlife been amazing but I have met alot of really good people from all over the world. I donīt think I have had anytime to myself actually. Since being back from my boat tour I have been diving everyday, 4 days straight. Iīm not going to get into everyday but seeing about a dozen hammerheads and playing w- sea lions were definatly the highlights. Be back on the January 18th [View Full Entry]
