Will & Briana Truong

We moved to England in August, 2007. We had just graduated university and were looking for our first teaching jobs, so we decided to venture overseas to travel around Europe and start our careers at the same time! While living in England we travelled and saw more places than we ever imagined would be possible! In addition to our travelling adventures, we got engaged on Christmas Day, 2007 and were married on August 22, 2009! What a wonderful way to spend those two years of our lives. We never thought we would have the opportunity to work and travel abroad.
If you look around our blog you'll see pictures from the following places: Italy (Rome, Siena, Florence, Pisa, Verona, Venice), France (Paris), Spain (Barcelona, Vilanova i la Geltru, Lloret de Mar), Germany (Cologne, Boppard, Konigswinter), Switzerland (Zurich, Engelberg, Luzern), Ireland (Dublin, Wicklow, Glendalough), Belgium (Brussels, Bruges), Scotland (Edinburgh, Stirling Castle, Loch Lomand), North Wales and England (London, Oxford, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Bath, Stonehenge, Brighton, Canterbury, York, Dover, Cambridge).
Our travel blog comes to an end after our wedding in August, 2009. It's time to begin the next stage in our life together now that we are living back home with our family and friends.

Well, we have finally reached our final blog post to cap the end our journey which began in 2007. In a nutshell, here are the highlights from the past few years! We began dating in December 2006. In April 2007, Bri moved into the shared student house that Will was renting in Waterloo. The intention was just to live together for the summer and work at our summer jobs - and then we would both move back home (Kitchener & Toronto) until we could find full-time teaching work and begin paying off our student debts. June 2007 - We began having contact with an overseas teaching agency in the UK. Towards the end of the month we had our job interviews for a school in England and were offered two full-time teaching positions the following day! ... read more

These posts are long overdue, however we would like to wrap up our travel blog with our engagment photos and photos from our wedding on August 22, 2009 so that we may then create a hardcover book containing all of our travel blog posts. This seems like a fitting end for our blog which began nearly three years ago when we first left on our adventurous journey to England in 2007. So, without further ado, here are our photos that we had taken a few weeks before our wedding. Photographer: Sandra Valente, Seize the Moment Photos.... read more

I had a wonderful bridal shower thrown for me, hosted by my mom and my matron of honour, Jackie. It was so great to have family and close friends around, especially since I've hardly seen anyone in two years! The shower kicked off with people introducing themselves to each other. This was then followed by some fun bridal shower games with prizes for the winners! Game #1: British Equivalents - Given a list of North American terms, could people think of what the eqivalent British term was? Winner: Wendy! See, it pays to watch Coronation Street! Game #2: Purse Hunt - Mom shouted out various items. The first person to pull each item out of their purse earned various point values. Winner: Jan. She had everything but the kitchen sink in her purse! Game #3: How ... read more

We're back again with some more travel photos! Cambridge is a city in England that we've wanted to visit since we first arrived in August 2007. We figured that since the number of weekends remaining before we come home are limited, we had better get there soon! So, last weekend we hired a car and went on another road trip! Luckily the weather was on our side and it was a beautiful day. Strangely, driving on the left side of the road now seems normal! The millions of roundabouts are fantastic and we now officially detest the traffic light system at home. Roundabouts are great because they keep traffic moving at all times. It's too bad that North American drivers don't adapt to roundabouts very well and drive like idiots around them. Oh well. There are ... read more

Hi again everyone! It feels like ages since we posted our last blog in May. Last year we had tons of blog posts because we were very excited to share all of our travelling adventures with you when we visited amazing countries like Italy, France, Germany, etc. We haven't done as much travelling this year due to the fact that we're saving up our pennies for our wedding! We can hardly believe that our wedding is less than 2 months away!!! We are so excited and very much looking forward to seeing everyone again. Despite the fact that we haven't travelled as much this year, we have still had a fantastic year abroad and had the chance to visit Ireland, Belgium, Scotland, Wales and a couple more places in England. We'll soon be packing our stuff ... read more

We're back with another installment of the Adventures of Will & Bri! This time our adventures included two friends: Heather, an American from Philadelphia and Andy, an Englishman from...England! Both of them are teachers at the same school as us. Heather teaches Math and Andy teaches P.E. Since it was a long weekend, we decided to avoid doing any work and go on a road trip to North Wales! Wales is a neighbouring country to England. We chose Wales as our destination for this long weekend because of our recent passport fiasco and the fact that we are not required to show our passports when crossing into the country. We hired a car on Friday night (Bri was the chauffeur) and made the 4 hour trek to our hotel in North Wales. We arrived at our ... read more

Hi again everyone! We are now in the second half of our two week Easter break. We spent all of our first week waiting around, hoping that we could come home for our buck & doe. Again, thank you to everyone who helped make it a big success! Since the buck & doe we have tried to make the best of our time off while we've been stuck here in England! Last week we ventured into London for one day, simply because we couldn't stand being in our house any more! We originally intended on seeing the Changing of the Guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace but later found out that it is only running every other day in April, and we were there on the wrong day! So, we decided to go see the Tower of London. ... read more

Yes, the title says it all! Last night was our Buck & Doe, held at Tavistock Memorial Hall. However, guests in attendance would have noticed that the party lacked the Buck (groom) and the Doe (bride). We did not plan this intentionally! For any of you who have not heard the story, we were suppose to be home on Saturday, 4 April. Howevere, we got terribly screwed over by the UK Border Agency who has had our passports for more than 7 weeks now. We sent them our passports in February to update our visas and we should have had our documents back 2 weeks ago. Clearly, that didn't happen! We made many phone calls pleading to have our documents returned, only to be responded to with a grunt and an annoyed response due to the ... read more

It’s half-term break once again! Our choices of travel were limited because we currently do not have our passports. Therefore, we could not travel outside of the UK. Our passports are currently with the UK Border Agency awaiting approval to allow us to remain in England until August. So, we decided to visit the historic city of York for 3 days.York is located in the northern part of England, only a few hours drive from Edinburgh, Scotland. York was founded in AD 71 by the Romans. It is a lovely city which still has much of its original city walls in tact. We arrived in York by train on Tuesday afternoon. Total travel time was approximately 3 hours; the train from Aylesbury to London was 1 hour followed by a 2 hour trip from London ... read more
