We have now finished the last leg of our Christmas traveling adventures! We spent the last 6 days in Edinburgh, Scotland. We were hoping to see snow while we were away but despite getting quite cold at night, the weather was fairly mild during the entire trip. Our trip began with a fright at Stansted airport in London. We made our way to the check-in desk on the morning of Dec.23 only to find out that our flights were actually scheduled for the previous day! We have booked most of our trips through Expedia and have never had a problem, but this time the agent made a bit of a mistake when selecting our date of departure with the airline. Luckily, there were still seats available on the outgoing flight that morning and we were able ... read more

Europe » Belgium » Brussels-Capital Region » Brussels December 23rd 2008

And so begins our adventure to yet another country! To be exact, Belgium is now the 8th country we’ve visited in Europe! We began our journey on the Eurostar from London to Brussels. Taking the train was a nice change from flying since we didn’t have to be at the train station until approximately 45 minutes before departure. Although the Eurostar is one of the fastest trains in the world, we arrived an hour later than expected due to delays at the Eurotunnel which passes under the English Channel. Once we arrived we walked for over an hour through some very sketchy parts of Brussels until we found our hotel which ended up being in a nice part of the city. We stayed for 3 nights at the Crowne Plaza Europa Hotel. We began Saturday, our ... read more

Hello again! We are back with another installment from our traveling adventures! We returned late last night from a four day excursion to Ireland. Ireland is a very beautiful country with lots of greenery and wonderful rolling hills and countryside. We experienced all sorts of weather! It was quite cold, but we got some sunshine as well as rain and snow! We started our adventure at 3am on Tuesday morning when we hired a taxi to take us to Luton airport. Our flight departed at 6:35am and we arrived in Dublin an hour later. Once we made our way to the city centre we decided to go for a walk to find our hotel. The walk turned out to be much longer than we anticipated! Forty minutes later we saw the Travelodge sign looming ahead of ... read more

Hi again everyone! Happy Thanksgiving to all of you at home; we wish we could be there to share in a fantastic turkey dinner! The two of us are doing well. We're busy with work, as usual, and counting down the days until our first half-term break which is in two weeks. Yesterday we ventured to Canterbury, a city in Kent in the south east of England. We began our day at 7:30am by grabbing a coffee and hopping on a train to London. From London we took a National Express coach bus to Canterbury, arriving in Canterbury just before 11:30am. We started our time in Canterbuy just wandering down the main street which is flooded with shops and tourists. We bought ourselves a brand new 8 megapixel digital camera because our other camera has seen ... read more

Hello again everyone! It's been awhile since we've posted any new updates so we thought we'd drop in to let you all know that everything is going well! It's been a month now since we came back to England. For the first few weeks we saw nothing but rain, but this past week the weather has been gorgeous! We took advantage of the sunshine today and went outside to take some pictures by the canal at the end of the road. There were plenty of ducks and swans basking in the sun! Work has been going fairly well. There are only four more weeks until the first half-term. We've booked a trip to Dublin, Ireland from Oct.28-Oct.31. We're both really excited to travel to another place! We've also booked a trip to Edinburgh, Scotland over Christmas ... read more

Hi again everyone! We have made it back to England safely and are now back in our house in Aylesbury. Overall our trip over the pond was pleasant. Our original flights back were suppose to be on Saturday night, leaving Toronto at 10:25pm. However, due to Zoom Airlines shutting down, we had to find new flights back. Thankfully we were able to book flights out of Buffalo, NY with United Airlines leaving shortly after 7pm. Mom and Ted drove us to Buffalo and we stopped for a fantastic lunch at the Olive Garden. The food was sooo good! Once we got to the airport and mom and Bri cried quite a few tears and we said our goodbyes, the two of us explored the boring amenities that the Buffalo airport has to offer and then we ... read more

Hi again everyone! Sadly we are now in our last week before we fly back to England for one more year. Our five weeks at home have been very busy, filled with wedding planning and visiting as many people as possible, dividing our time between KW, Toronto and Stratford. We tried our best but unfortunately we just couldn't get around to see everyone. The good news is that we'll be back in April for two weeks and then we're moving home for good next July, five weeks before our wedding! (note: our wedding date is August 22, 2009...less than a year away!!!) Last week we ventured up to North Bay for two days of sunshine and fishing in lake Nipissing. This two-day fishing trip has been a tradition in Will's family since his childhood. Bri hasn't ... read more

North America » Canada » Ontario » St. Mary's August 4th 2008

Yesterday was a very eventful day! Our lovely friends threw us an engagement & welcome home party which our friends Jackie and Jeremy hosted at their new house in St. Mary's. The party was fantastic and it was great to see everyone who came out! Our entire wedding party was there, with the exception of two people who had other commitments. The food was great too! BBQ hamburgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob, salads and plenty of desserts! We ate, drank and socialized all afternoon and night! Later on in the evening we even managed to make it out to Bri's family pig roast for about an hour to visit family that we haven't seen since last year! Thanks to everyone who sent their well wishes, and to those who showed up and helped make ... read more

Hi there everyone! Will and I are now officially back in Canada. We arrived last night after spending a long 8.5 hours in the air plus an additional hour for a stopover in Montreal. But, overall the flight was pretty good! Surprisingly neither one of us slept for more than half an hour the entire time. We were kept awake by the movies that were playing as well as by sheer excitement! Our plans for the summer include doing as much wedding planning as possible so that it makes it easier to plan the rest from overseas! Hopefully we can see as many people as possible while we're home for these 5 weeks. The day before we left England we hired a car with our friend Kath and went back to visit Stratford-Upon-Avon. We've been there ... read more

Europe » United Kingdom » England » East Sussex » Brighton July 13th 2008

Today we hired a car with our friend Kathleen and went for a 2 hour road trip to Brighton which is on the south coast of England. The rain decided to hold off for the entire day and the sun chose to show it's face so we were very happy! Brighton is known for its Royal Pavilion which is a former Royal palace built in the early 1800s and is notable for Indian architecture. Brighton is also known for its long stretch of beach and the Brighton Pier. The pier is quite commercialized with a very carnival-like atmosphere. The pier is lined with restaurants, arcade halls and carnival rides. We took the opportunity to relax in the free deck chairs that lined the pier overlooking the water. It was nice to get out of the house ... read more
