On my way home today after 21 days in Utah. I figured I could cram one more visit in. I decided to see the sand dunes near Kanab. The park has about 7 miles of dunes due to its unique location and the funneling of the Navajo sandstone given the winds in the area. Once the wind velocity decreases the sand is deposited. I hiked to the summit of the largest dune. It takes about 3 times as much energy to hike in the deep sand so thankfully the trip was short. After about 2 hours of just walking around at the dunes, off to Las Vegas to catch my flight.
