Clear cool
This morning we toured around … went into the audience hall to see the Pope. Saw him only briefly. Had several things blessed. Saw the Pieta and Moses by Michelangelo. The Sistine Chapel..the Catacombs..very busy day. Supposed to go to Tivoli Gardens tonight, but we may not go. We did go to Tivoli Gardens and it was beautiful. Situated about 18 miles from Rome. The palace and fountains and gardens were built for Lucretia Borgia's third son. Tomorrow is a free day. Bought some delicious banana grapes.

This AM after breakfast, we had a tour to the colosseum. This is where the Romans had their arena for sports, etc. Approx. 3rd century. It held 50,000 people and had a canopy at that time. Went to Viaticum City after that and had two medals blessed by Pope Paul. Got to see the Pope in the Church. St. Peter’s Church is largest church in world and the (Pieta) Mary & Jesus by Michael Angelo was beautiful. Saw the Alter and St. Peter’s tomb. M.A. was the

Saw Sistine Chapel where M.A. painted the ceiling and wall. This was greatest thing of all. The top was creation including God creating Man and side was about Judgment. We then went to see Moses by M.A. and it was beautiful.
After dinner, went to Tivoli Gardens. It was a beautiful garden about 18 miles from Rome at the foot of Mtn., full of fountains. Very nice. (Villa de Este)
