Rome
Rainy then clear and cool

Arrived Rome after 6:00. Ate lunch outside of Florence after a tour of Firenze. We saw Michelangelo’s David...outstanding. Went inside the Cathedral of Mary of the Flower. nice tour. This evening Mother, Daddy, Dianne and I found a nice inexpensive restaurant to have dinner in and went on a tour of Rome ..saw ruins, Coliseum, Trevi Fountain threw two coins in...tomorrow another tour of Rome.

Place: Florence & Rome Italy (Colony)
Weather: rainy & partly clouded

Left hotel in Florence early and went on tour of city. Went to Mary of the Florence Church with highest dome without supports. Church were Michael Angelo was buried and other very great Italians. Best of all, went to see “The David” which Michael Angelo did at 26 years old. It was spectacular! Also the crypts where the man who raised and loved him was buried. Had some beautiful statues there. Only about twenty-three of M.A. statues ever created.

Went to leather factory and had lunch before heading to Rome. Arrived about 6:00 pm and Mother, Daddy, Patty and I went to small Italian Restaurant and had a nice diner. Afterwards, we had tour of city in lights. The Coliseum was great and went to Fountain of Trevi. Threw in 3 coins so I would come back and for Richard. I really loved the fountain.

Dear Family,
Well, we're in Florence now. It's incredible all that we've seen in eleven days time. I hope I can remember it all so I can tell you about it! We're all feeling well-but tired. I'm not drinking much milk & I miss it alot. Of course the water (drinking) has to be bought-oh, well. We'll tour Florence tomorrow & then on to Rome.
I love you all & miss you so much, Patty & Mom
