I Do, I Will, Forever.......
March 6, 2024
Well, I know where I was on March 6, 2004, and after a few more lines you will too....
I woke up to Kirsten squealing as she is looking out the window...
“IT’S SNOWING ...WAKE UP SLEEPY HEAD!!!”
After a great night sleep, I rollout out of bed and looked out the window, yes, it’s snowing but it’s not sticking to the ground YET!
After showering and dressing we head downstairs for our first German breakfast, as always it was fantastic. Yes, we made our lunch sandwiches and grabbed some fruit for lunch.
We planned our day while eating breakfast. First were going to Ravenna gorge. Second, we visit RotHaus brewery. Third, we visit St Blasien cathedral. Then we will arrive at our Air BnB Kirsten rented for three nights.
Back upstairs we go grab our bags and check out.
Once out the door and Kirsten stops at the bottom of the steps and starts catching snowflakes on her tongue.
Let’s go; its cold out here, ok, ok she says dancing in the falling snow.
Ravena Gorge is this beautiful gorge that we
didn’t venture very far into because of the snow and we didn’t want to slip and fall. So, after an hour of walking, we made it the gift shop to get warm, but walked out with stuff.
Kirsten then set the Navi to
RotHaus Brewery, the tour began at 12 pm and was 2 hours. It was quite impressive. At the end we received a beer and pretzel.
That was just enough to make me want more. The brewery’s restaurant was just across the courtyard ... how convenient.
We walk in and the hostess asks do you have reservation? NO! again the restaurant is empty, I just don’t get it.
We have a very delicious lunch; our tour guide came in and found us. He said I’m so glad to find you here are some items for you to remember the tour. It was very informative tour, and the beer was GREAT.
After lunch, off we go to
St Blasien cathedral. Kirsten says we were here, but the cathedral was closed. This time it is open, so here we go to see St Blasien, this saint is the one that holds two candles across your chest to
bless your throat. Google it, the
cathedral was very nice and very large.
Now were off to find our Air BnB, it’s located in Untermettingen, Germany.
Try finding that on google maps it took me three tries, finally Kirsten pulling over and takes over my phone and finds it instantly. How embarrassing, me being the navigator........
However, we have one last stop, ALDI. You read it correctly; these German girls have to walk through any German grocery store once they arrive in Germany. I’m laughing as we walk in and Kirsten snaps and says, Hey you want Breakfast?
I stand at attention and say, “Ja Vol Commandant”. When in Germany do as the Germans do.
We arrive at our Air BnB, the keys are in the door as they said they would be. It’s a cute 2 bedroom / one bath apartment.
After getting settled in, we sit and talk about our last twenty years over cheese, meats, olives, and wine.
We exchange cards, we both smile tell other how happy we are, and then Kirsten rushes out of the living room and returns.
I have something for you, open your phone
and check your message from me. Ok, I open my phone and select Kirsten from my msg app. She says listen to it.
I look at her and she says just listen to it. I click on the link and this song begins. Yes, Kirsten wrote a song for me.
OMG! I’m crying like a baby listening to it over and over and over.
So next time you see me, ask me to play my song.
And if you haven’t figured it out today yes, today is our 20
th wedding anniversary.
She’s the one, the only one.
God .... I love this woman.
Gute Nacht
