Amazing views
Heart stopper getting hear We start off quite early after having breakfast and first thing I do is take us down the wrong road - well you could say it was a road but if honest it was more like a cycle track. When it got really narrow I said I don’t think this can be a main road and you guessed it this was not a main road at all. However if honest it hugged the coastline more than the main road did and we did not meet any vehicles coming the other way, Yes and not even cycles.
I wanted to see the waterfall and caves at Ardara but hey ho this is getting regular could I find them not at all. By the time we realised we had missed the turning to the caves we are following the WAW road to Malaidh Ghleann Ghes and it started climbing and climbing and then the road sign shows a really steep sign and blind/hairpin bends - now the first thing I think is this is not good and if honest it was definitely not good being a passenger in a motorhome going up these roads. The view at the top was
special though but all I could think is what goes up must go down and I was not looking forward to a steep decline as no doubt I would have been on the wrong side and petering over the edge again - however, to my surprise we seemed to descend quite nicely and I was not looking over the edge - so phew I think. We then make our way to Malian Bhig which again was picturesque and then onto where I have wanted to go for ages Sliabh Liag or Slieve League as most people know it. It is a stone mountain with sheer cliffs that rise 602 metres above sea level from, it appears, often choppy seas. So we start walking to see them and I say to Mike this is not right we are walking up a mountain and I say to Mike “this is wrong” I want to see them from sea level. So we walk back down to the visitor centre and book a boat trip at 4pm which meant we had to spend a couple of hours waiting - was it worth it, you bet your bottom dollar it was, and to end it
Sliabh Liag from the Atlantic
This stands over 600 metres to definitely be seen via the Atlantic all would you believe it we had a pod of dolphins playing around our boat. Can you believe it we sailed across the Atlantic last year from Lisbon to Barbados and never saw a dolphin but we go to Ireland and see loads of pods of dolphins swimming along side us. Now I have to be truthful I did not take any photos because I was in awe of such a magnificent sight and sometimes you should just see things through your eyes and not look through a camera - so sorry about this.
We get back late so decided to stay in a campsite which had a nice pub called the Rusty Mackeral and had chowder which was amazing - we could also charge up all batteries as we have electric hook up so not a bad deal to be honest. But the facilities were not the best - more suited to a pop up site with no more than 5 groups guests rather than the tens of tents, caravans and motorhomes that were actually on site. And that doesn’t allow for what human beings do in toilet and shower facilities when they are wasted beyond belief!!!
I have been looking for Xplorit Wild Atlantic Way Route Guide and Atlas for months and could not find it anywhere and guess what I find it in the visitor centre so am really happy girlie tonight.

Loving the Ireland tour
Reminds me of this quirky book I read years ago Round Ireland with a Fridge-- don't know if you have had the pleasure, if not you'll enjoy after this trip https://a.co/d/3b5aHTf
