Pollet Great Arch
Erm more spectacular than Durdle Door !!!! So we have decided that we have to move on today and go to Pollet Sea Grand Arch which is spectacular but if totally honest not a patch on Durdle Door in Dorset. However there is a great tale about this as you have to go over private land and the land owners was so fed up of tourists walking all over their lands that they decided to put up signs of no trespassing which to the Irish Tourist Board was oh no this is a national treasure. So after years of fighting, the Irish Tourist Board decided to do the best thing and pay the private landowners some money (quite a lot I have heard) so they now have a fenced path that tourists go down to see the Arch. In someways good for the landowners as sometimes the little people (not leprechauns) get walked over.
So we now go to two peninsulars, one of which I am told is tame and the other not so tame. So we go to the tame one first called Ros Goill, well if this is tame how the hell am I going to deal with the not so tame one,
Horn Head. Why oh why is it always that I am the one in the motorhome who seems to be hanging over the edge of a high cliff with a camber to the water!! I am going through what did I write in my will is it up to date!!!!! How can they get my body back to the UK - now you can see how my brain is working and not not to the best of my ability I can tell you.
So with trepidation we go to Horn Head and if honest it was amazing although I had to close my eyes so many times and say “I am not going to die, I am not going to die”. So we made it and I think this princess should be given another diamond for doing this for her crown, ha ha.
To be fair Ros Goill was picturesque as was Horn Head and then we keep driving and try to find somewhere to stop for the night. I have a couple of good Apps, Park 4 the Night and Search for Sites. Park 4 the Night came up with a great place to stop but when we finally got there they are working on the pier with major diggers so that was not a great place to stop so yelling at Mike, well probably not yelling but lets be honest, yelling what the fu.k are we going to do now - then the calm and girl guide came over me and I thought no problem find a large pub or a car park near the beach and guess what no you are not wrong we found a car park by the beach so this is tonight’s stop. The town had a nice pizza place and of course a pub which sold guinness so we are all set up for the night now. We met up again with a couple whom we had met at the Seaview Tavern and spent a pleasant evening sat outside their Motorhome drinking and talking.
Planning for the next day now.
